The New York Giants Sunday lost one of the players they had hoped to sign to their practice squad when undrafted free agent defensive tackle Kelcy Quarles was claimed on waivers by the New England Patriots.
Quarles, from South Carolina, had five tackles and one sack in five preseason games. He played well last Thursday in the preseason finale against the Patriots -- obviously well enough that they wanted him on their 53-man roster. The Giants kept four defensive tackle -- Cullen Jenkins, Johnathan Hankins, Mike Patterson and Markus Kuhn -- and had reportedly hoped to get Quarles through waivers.
Wanna thank the New York Giants for opportunity. Now it's time to get to work the Patriots. #Patriots

The Giants signed six players to the practice squad who were with them during training camp. Those are running back Michael Cox; cornerbacks Bennett Jackson and Chandler Fenner; linebacker Dan Fox; defensive end Jordan Stanton; and wide receiver Julian Talley.
Cox, a seventh-round pick last season, carried 22 times for 43 yards last season. Talley played in two games last season. Jackson was the Giants sixth-round pick this seaso
The Giants also signed offensive lineman Nick Becton, who was waived by the San Diego Chargers on Tuesday. Becton, 6-foot-5, 323 pounds, is an undrafted free agent who spent the 2013 season on San Diego's practice squad. He was active for six weeks and appeared in one regular season game.
The Giants have three spots remaining to fill on the practice squad. Keep it here and we will keep you updated.
