Most Intriguing Names on the Waiver Wire after 1st Round of Cuts

Waddup Big Blue Fam

So i am not endorsing any of these guys as potential pickups for the Giants, personally my belief is that if we do make some claims, it will be after the 2nd round of cuts where the talent and experience is more apparent. But since im bored as shit and can't stop thinking about the upcoming season, why not discuss some of the talent back on the market.

OT Max Starks- 6'8'' 345lbs/ 32 years old- Former 3rd round pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers with 96 starts and 125 games played under his belt.

DT Alan Branch- 6'6'' 325lbs/ 29 years old- 33rd overall pick of the Cardinals in 2007, played for the Seahawks and most recently the Bills. Recently caught a DUI which led to his release. 170 Career Tackles and 8 Sacks.

WR Tiquan Underwood- 6'1'' 185lbs/ 27 years old- Stupid High Top Fade led to him bouncing around the league.

S Adrian Wilson- 6'3'' 230lbs/ 34 years old- 3rd Round pick of the Cardinals in 2001. 5x Pro Bowler, 3x All Pro. 893 Career tackles, 25.5 Sacks, 27 INTs, 14 FF.

DE Martez Wilson- 6'4'' 260lbs/ 25 years old- 3rd round pick of the Saints in 2011. 5 career sacks. Ran a 4.49 40 at the combine. Young and still has some upside.

DE Adwele Ojomo- 6'4'' 270/ 25 years old- Former NY Giant preseaon Favorite. BEAST.

OT Winston Justice- 6'6'' 320lbs/ 29 years old- 2nd round pick of the Sheagles in 2007. The Guy who gave up 4 sacks to Osi in 07.

WR Ramses Barden- 6'6'' 225lbs/ 28 years old- Hello old friend. I think Corey Washington will be a better version of Barden as a rookie UDFA with more upside as well, just saying he's still out there.

OL Tyler Larsen- 6'4'' 313lbs/ 23 years old- was originally thought of as a mid-late round pick as a center out of Utah, but went undrafted and signed by Miami. Clearly he wasn't going to fight for a starting gig with Pouncey in Miami, but still young and talented.

DE Will Smith- 6'3'' 280lbs/ 33 years old- Queens Native, 18th overall pick of the Saints in 2004. 67.5 career sacks.

TE Justin Jones- 6'8'' 275lbs/ 22 years old- Rookie UDFA out of East Carolina. Intriguing athlete, 37in Vert, 22 reps. Bigger than all TE's on our roster. Prob not great, but can't be worse than the group we have currently.

TE Travis Beckham- 6'3'' 240lbs/ 27 years old- Another former Giant. Even tho most will probably disagree, this is one waiver claim I believe we should make. Yes he was completely underwhelming his first go round here, but he was also completely mis-used by Killdrive. Remeber that catch and run against GB?!?!? He has talent, and is a quality receiver, plus he already has experience with Eli. As long as we don't mistake him for an In-line blocking TE again, I believe he can be our best receiving TE, certainly can't be worse than what we have.

DE/ OLB Victor Butler- 6'2'' 250lbs/ 27 years old- Former 4th round pick of the CowGirls in 2009. Stuck playing behind Ware and Spencer but still managed 11 sacks in limited playing time. Tore his ACL last year in training camp with the Saints. Has pass rushing skills, altho not so much against the run

DE/DT George Uko- 6'3'' 285lbs/ 22 years old- UDFA out of USC this year. Definately raw, but nonetheless talented. Same problems Kennard faced at USC, dealing with 4 different DCs and a lot of moving around. Personally, I'd love to snatch this guy up and get him on our practice squad, along with Quarles we would have 2 young guys with tons of potential to develop for next year when Patterson and Jenkins will be gone.CBS Sports Draft Profile says
"Naturally large frame with long arms and plenty of room for additional mass. Possesses an explosive initial burst to penetrate gaps and impressive acceleration for a man with his frame. Complementing his burst, Uko has quick, active hands that he jabs constantly at his opponent. Consistent penetration makes him quite a nuisance, especially in the passing game, where his athleticism makes him a legitimate threat to collapse the pocket. Versatile defender who lined up all over the defensive line for the Trojans, including at defensive tackle, defensive end and even at nose guard. Intriguing upside. COMPARES TO: Jurrell Casey, Tennessee Titans - Like Casey, another former Trojan defensive tackle, Uko possesses impressive burst to collapse the pocket from the interior. He's raw, however, and won't provide nearly as much against the run."

CB Ras-I Dowling- 6'1'' 210lbs/ 26 years old- 33rd Overall pick of the 2011 draft of the Patriots out of Virginia. Tall, long corner with legit 4.4 speed. Tore a thigh muscle in 2012. He was cut by the CB starved Jets, so im assuming the injury robbed him of his speed, but still an interesting name.

LB Steele Divitto- 6'2'' 240lbs/ 22 Years old- BEST NAME EVER! 2014 UDFA out of BC, former Don Bosco star. Again, BEST NAME EVER.

WR Juron Criner- 6'3'' 220lbs/ 24 years old- Big bodied, former Arizona stud. Hasn't done much in the league, but he is still young enough to revive his career.

DE/DT Joe Kruger- 6'6'' 290lbs/ 22 years old- 7th round pick of the Sheagles in 2013, brother of Paul Kruger. Missed all of the 2013 season on IR. Good Bloodlines, great size, potential?

DE Jackson Jeffcoat- 6'3'' 250lbs/ 22 years old- If I remember correctly, most of you here on BBV wanted to draft jeffcoat in the mid-late rounds, as did I. He went undrafted and wound up signing with Seattle, their depth left little room for Jeffcoat, so he is once again a FA. He led the FBS last year with 13 sacks (22 TFLs also) and won the Ted Hendricks Award (Best DE in the country) and Big 12 DPOY. Had a few rough season due to injury, but put together a great senior year. Great Bloodlines, great athlete, still has potential.

OL Gabe Ikard- 6'4'' 304lbs/ 23 years old- Another rookie center from Oklahoma that most considered a mid-late round pick that wound up going undrafted. Richburg is better and is our future at center, but a few of his center draft mates have clearly been struggling.

Again, other than Beckham, I am not endorsing any of these guys as players we should add to our 53 man roster. But I will say, if Uko and Jeffcoat can't find a home on a 53 man roster, I think adding them to our Practice squad would be a solid move. It would allow us to develop two young and raw athletic specimens with tons of upside and keep our DL pipeline full.
