Missouri Tigers 2015 NFL Draft Scouting Report

An obvious big hit is what Mizzou took in losing maybe the 2015 drafts top overall player in WR Dorial Green-Beckum. Still though, the cupboard isn't bare. A young and improving QB is at the reigns to go along with a solid offense. The defense has some electrifying talent that will dominate and create havoc as much as any in the SEC.

#70 Anthony Gatti (rSr.) LG 6-6 315. Has appeared in 23 games with 2 starts. Has a good deal of experience at LG and LT. Savvy veteran. Limited athletically and plays smaller than he is. UDFA.

#89 Matt Hoch (rSr.) DT 6-5 295. Has appeared in 36 games with 25 starts. The unsung, unheralded type. Clogs running lanes and occupies multiple blockers. Can get an occasional sack or two. Tends to rise straight up out of his stance exposing his frame. Isn't an all star athlete. A try hard guy who can play in a 4-3 at DT and a 3-4 DE. UDFA.

#88 Jimmie Hunt (rSr.) WR 6-0 215. Has appeared in 37 games with 0 starts. Has a great deal of experience as an inside WR. Has big play capabilities although he's more of a possession guy. Uses his frame and strength to shield defenders away while making closed quartered catches. Has never grabbed a prominent role in the offense and didn't distinguish himself as a go to guy this spring. Should get a lot of action this season and show his big play ability more but still will never be a starter on the next level. 7th-UDFA.

#65 Mitch Morse (rSr.) LT/RT 6-6 305. Has appeared in 38 games with 25 starts (primarily at RT but some at C). Made the switch to LT this spring. Very solid football player. Technically sound and relies heavily on technique. It's a joy to watch him use his hands to stop DE's in their tracks. Handles both speed and power with good results. Hands are strong and can steer defenders wherever he wants. Solid in both the run and pass game. More of a RT or G prospect though. Doesn't have great athleticism or feet for it. Can be a passable player there but it's not my top spot for him. Savvy guy who's versatility will serve him well. The type who plays well above his draft round and plays for 8-10 years. 5th-7th round.

#6 Marcus Murphy (rSr.) RB/KR/PR 5-9 195. Has appeared in 38 games with 0 starts. Teams primary KR and PR. Outstanding speed and ability to go from zero to sixty on a dime. Great footwork and ankle breaking ability. His balance is top notched. Has 17 total TD's in his career (12 rushing, 3 kick off returns, 1 receiving and 1 punt return. Well rounded 3rd down back. Touches have increased every year. Missed 2011 with a shoulder injury. Not an in between the T's runner. After a great 2012 on special teams with 4 TD's 2013 didn't produce any. Very slim build with a narrow lower body. Draft stock is predicated on his ST prowess more than anything and that'll be his ticket for being drafted. 6th-7th round.

#11 Darvin Ruise (rSr.) OLB 6-1 240. Has appeared in 38 games with 0 starts. Has contributed off the bench. Plays smart and hits hard. Backup type guy who will start but may share time. UDFA.

#21 Bud Sasser (rSr.) WR 6-2 210. Has appeared in 35 games with 15 starts. A savvy possession type receiver. Ideal size for the position. Solid hands but as a starter he hasn't really distinguished himself. They've had other receivers who've caught a lot of passes but he was eclipsed by all of them. This spring he still didn't take complete control as Maty Mauk's go to guy. He'll only ever be a complimentary piece as opposed to a centerpiece. Still he should see his productivity increase greatly. UDFA.

#96 Lucas Vincent (rSr.) DT/NT 6-2 305. Has appeared in 39 games with 9 starts. Spark plug, space eating type. Strong motor and when he's consistent with good technique he must be accounted for. Not a pass rusher but he can get a push and some pressure. Isn't best suited as a three down lineman. Short, squatty, short arms with limited ability. Rotation type. UDFA.

#9 Braylon Webb (rSr.) SS 6-0 205. Has appeared in 37 games with 30 starts. Seasoned veteran. Has lots of experience at both S spots. A good athlete. Very good range on the back end. Gets physical as well. Had an inconsistent season a year ago. Displayed poor ball skills at times. Doesn't display any outstanding attributes. Has has a solid career thus far but doesn't have the makings of a starting S on the next level. UDFA.

#8 Darius White (rSr.) WR (Z) 6-3 205. Transfer from Texas. Has all of the physical talents and characteristics you could ever ask for. The positives end there though. Was asked to leave the UT program/asked out because he was not a hard worker. Claims he needed a fresh start but the proof is that he was never a factor. Played last season and although his talents are still evident he only has 7 catches in 14 games. Will be a starter but didn't distinguish himself as a go to guy this spring. UDFA.

#10 Kentrell Brothers (rJr.) MLB/OLB 6-1 240. Has appeared in 25 games with 14 starts. Good athlete. Plays with good range. Isn't the sideline to sideline type but covers his area well. Solid tackler. Tends to avoid blocks and misses tackles because of this. Looks better moving backward than forward. Gets pushed around by OL so he still lacks the strength needed in the trenches. Play is up and down in coverage. Had a torn labrum that required surgery and kept him out of spring practice. It also hinders his lifting and as a MLB taking on big and strong lineman without that strength will hurt his game. Doesn't declare.

#60 Connor McGovern (rJr.) RT/RG 6-4 310. Has appeared in 23 games with 14 starts (all at RG). Is making the switch to T. Has the makeup of a natural G which is where he stands a chance. Not particularly quick footed and isn't a great athlete. Needs to work on his strength and power because he's easily pushed back on bull rushes. I think he struggles at T and gets moved back inside. Doesn't declare.

#56 Shane Ray (rJr.) DE/OLB 6-3 245. 4.44 40? Has appeared in 26 games with 0 starts. Tremendous speed off of the snap. Fast enough that I can believe a 4.44 40 to be true. He's like a heat seeking missile. Puts a lot of pressure on an OL in a flash. They'd be vulnerable to any move he decided to make. Is adept at the sack/strip which is a huge plus. Narrow hips and slender lower body. Doesn't appear to have much growth potential to remain at DE. Better off as a 3-4 OLB which he has never played. Isn't particularly strong against the run. Isn't a fluid athlete. Has a stiffness, a tightness in the hips that makes it hard for him to redirect. Can't regroup after his initial move has been stopped. Has a Taylor Mays type stiffness. Doesn't have that bend to him coming around the edge that the great pass rushers have. He can't contort. Will be a disruptive force but the questions for me about his stiff nature and his ability to play in coverage are bothersome. May have that Michael Sam issue of looking lost in coverage. The speed and ability to create turnovers is too appealing for him to slide too far though. Mid 2nd-late 3rd.

#21 Ian Simon (rJr.) FS 6-0 195. Has appeared in 23 games with 6 starts. All 6 starts came as the NCB. Is a good athlete. Now playing a role best suited for him. Isn't as physical so being further away from the ball should help. Needs that strength though because you can't hide and it'll only serve him well when tackling RB's who reach his level. Doesn't declare.

#77 Evan Boehm (Jr.) C 6-3 315. Has appeared in 26 games with 26 starts (12 at LG in 2012 and 14 at C in 2013). Quick, quick and quick. Has ideal size for an interior lineman. He's a people mover in the run game. Gets excellent leverage with solid technique and strength. Gets to the second level and makes things happen there as well. Was a very good G and now he's a top notched C. Versatility is a plus but being very good at multiple positions is huge. Is good in the pass game but not as strong there. Allows rushers to get pressure up the middle from time to time. I attribute it to being in an unfamiliar position but he must improve his eyes. Looks ready for a move now but I don't think he declares. He will be a special one when he decides to go but if he leaves early he's a 3rd-4th round guy.

#90 Harold Brantley (rSo.) DT/NT 6-3 290. Has appeared in 14 games with 6 starts. Has shared time with Lucas Vincent at NT. Good motor. Plays all out and brings it every play. Will continue to improve although he won't be the starter. This year he's tremendous depth but he'll still be productive. Doesn't declare.

#33 Markus Golden (rSr.) DE 6-3 260. JC transfer. Has appeared in 26 games with 0 starts. Play about 40% of the teams defensive snaps and led the DL in tackles (55)!!! Was tied for second in the SEC in sacks with six behind teammate Michael Sam! Extraordinary motor. Will not stop until the play is made. Relentlessly pursues the football. Can go from sideline to sideline. Appears to be the type who can cover also. Hustles hard. Has explosive speed that makes OL uncomfortable in a hurry. If a move to OLB in a 3-4 was necessary he could most certainly do that. Isn't the most refined pass rusher. He needs to add moves to his arsenal. The speed rush is fine, mixed with a bull rush or the occasional push upfield and then inside but if he had a stutter step, a spin and a swim move he'd be outstanding. He's good now but he NEEDS to add moves. Mid 2nd-early 3rd.

#32 Russell Hansbrough (Jr.) 5-9 190. Has appeared in 21 games with 0 starts. Excellent athleticism. Has great feet and vision. Is built like a third down back but is stout enough to handle carriers between the tackles. Only has 2 career catches but hands look natural enough that this wouldn't be an issue. With only 151 carries you aren't sure how much of a workload he can handle. Has two other RB's who will get carries so a hefty load isn't in the cards, at least initially. Overall experience in the backfield, pass protection and pass catching are things he'd need to work on if an upward move is to be made. An exciting RB but I don't think he declares.
