Kentucky Wildcats 2015 NFL Draft Scouting Report

The talent on this team is in the non draft eligible ranks. They're up and coming but the upperclassmen aren't on par talent wise with their SEC brethren. I have three players here having a draftable grade. We know the DE's but the WR may be a breakout star:

#10 Tyler Brause (rSr.) OLB 6-4 245. Has played in 31 games with 1 start. Former QB moved to LB in 2011. Has a vast knowledge of what offenses are doing but doesn't have the athleticism to match up. A ST player at best. UDFA.

#60 Alvin Davis Jr. (rSr.) DE/DT 6-4 273. Has appeared in 36 games. Athletic player who's versatile. Has 15 career tackles as mainly a ST. Doesn't factor in much as a defensive player. UDFA.

#50 Mike Douglas (rSr.) DT/DE 6-4 293. Has played in 33 games with 3 starts. Extremely hard worker has stepped up this spring in hopes of finally grabbing a starting spot. Has played end as well but has gotten bigger and stronger as a DT. UDFA.

#2 Alvin "Bud" Dupree (Sr.) DE/OLB 6-4 267. Has appeared in 35 games with 26 starts. Amazing athleticism! Reportedly runs between a high 4.4 to a low 4.5 40, a 10-7 broad jump and a 40 inch vertical. Has positional flexibility (OLB) although he prefers his more natural role of DE. A quick learner and an instinctive player. Plays an all out, relentless brand of football. Explodes at the snap. Strong hands to help redirect OL. Looks comfortable and natural in coverage. Is extremely stout and doesn't give up much ground when engaged by an OL in the running game. Doesn't give much variation as a pass rusher. On the occasion where he does he's is hard to stop. Shows a bit of stiffness in the hips. As if he has to reset some after the initial block. Has gotten bigger, stronger and faster this offseason and is committed to a healthy diet and nutrition program which all should work wonders for his game. Teams leader. 1st round.

#18 Glenn Faulkner (rJr.) FS/SS 6-2 201. Has appeared in 23 games with 2 starts. May very well be teams most talented DB but just can't stay healthy enough to compete for a starting role. Has the ball skills and speed to be a contributor but has to show consistent health to get the much needed reps. No reason to declare.

#5 Ashley Lowery (Sr.) SS 6-1 215. Has appeared in 32 games with 21 starts. Has started since his true freshman season. Very athletic player. Has been in and out of lineup because of recurring concussion issues. Was in a bad car accident in May 2013 that almost cost him his life. Has only 2 INT's in his career and isn't much of a playmaker. UDFA.

#77 Darrian Miller (Sr.) LT 6-5 292. Has appeared in 36 games with 26 starts. Has good feet for the left side. Does a decent job against speed. He lacks strength and power though. The combination of speed and power are too overwhelming to him though. Has the makeup of a developmental player who'd fit better at G. With added strength he could turn out to be a solid player. UDFA.

#41 TraVaughn Paschal (Sr.) OLB 6-4 250. Has appeared in 16 games with 5 starts. Has played DE as well as OLB. Has some ability as a coverage LB and has valuable experience at DE. Could get him some looks as an UDFA.

#75 Zach West (rJr.) LG 6-4 308. Has appeared in 23 games with 21 starts. Has an adequate skill set but his number one positive is his tenacity. Should start for the next two years. Doesn't declare.

#9 Landon Foster (Jr.) P/K 6-1 208. Has appeared in 28 games. Won first and second team accolades as a freshman punter. Has a strong leg and generates good hang time. Knows how to punt inside the 20 well. Doesn't declare.

#22 Khalid Henderson (Jr.) MLB 6-1 231. Has appeared in 24 games with 7 starts. An active player. Started to emerge toward the end of 2013. Can go sideline to sideline. He's light though so moving downhill towards the LOS and engaging those OL isn't his strong suite. He gets knocked around and deleted in the running game. Misses too many tackles. Needs to add weight and strength. At times he appears lost and doesn't know his assignment. Doesn't declare.

#16 Cody Quinn (Jr.) CB 5-10 172. Has appeared in 20 games with 12 starts. Has yet to pick off a pass. Struggles locating the ball in the air. Good athlete but is really undersized for the aggressive brand of football he plays. Durability is a question mark. Doesn't declare.

#70 Jordan Swindle (Jr.) RT 6-7 304. Has appeared in 23 games with 12 starts. Has come a long way but needs to continue to progress. Is an athletic guy but needs to gain anchor strength. Gets moved too much and it can be attributed to not having the necessary power. Doesn't declare.

#3 Fred Tiller (Jr.) CB 6-0 176. Has appeared in 23 games with 11 starts. Good athlete. Really aggressive and is a good run defender who shows no fear. Hasn't intercepted a pass yet. Needs to show better playmaking ability to make that next step but he's a good cover corner. Doesn't declare.

#8 Javess Blue (Sr.) WR (X, Y & Z) 6-0 190. 4.41 40? Has appeared in 11 games with 11 starts. CC transfer. Excellent athlete. Came in in August and instantly took over as Kentucky's #1 WR. Very quick learner. Has top flight type speed and can stretch defenses. Sure hands. Is a real threat on ST as a KR and a PR. Missed all of spring after winter shoulder surgery. Shouldn't miss a beat being that he's in year two if this uptempo "Air Raid" offense. Primed for a big year. 5th-7th round.

#94 Za'Darius Smith (Sr.) DE 6-6 263. CC transfer. Has appeared in 12 games with 12 starts. Only in his 4th year of football. Has the ideal size and excellent strength that you'd want in a DE. His technique is impeccable. Plays relentless. Has really strong hands when he latches on to an OL. Can knock them off of their feet. Very stout in the run game. Has no variation to his pass rush. Is a bull rush guy only basically and this will limit his sack numbers. Can get stuck on blocks for too long. Plays with the nonstop motor you want. Late 3rd-5th.

#21 Nate Willis (Sr.) CB 6-0 174. JC transfer. Has appeared in 9 games with 7 starts. Started off slow due to late arrival to campus. Sure tackler. Is raw in his technique. UDFA.

Non draft eligible player(s) of note:

#6 Jason Hatcher (So.) DE 6-3 242. Appeared in 10 games and made his presence felt as Bud Dupree's backup. Has the size, speed and strength to be an outstanding OLB in a 3-4 because of his pass rushing acumen but he can also cover. He covers well too. A well rounded player who will only get better as he grows into his body. Has a very high upside.
