With the (likely) impending retirement of Chris Snee, it got me thinking about the all-time great Giants offensive linemen. I'd be interested in hearing peoples' take on the top 10 offensive linemen in Giants history.
Here are some names from the past 35 years, as well as their qualifications
Chris Snee: 4 Pro Bowls (2008, 2009, 2010, 2012), 3 All-Pro selections (1st team = 2008, 2010; 2nd team = 2009), Starter on 2 Super Bowl Championship teams (SB 42 and 46)
Jumbo Elliot: 1 Pro Bowl (1993), Zero All-Pro selections, Starter on one SB Championship team (SB 25)
Bart Oates: 3 Pro Bowls (1990, 1991, 1993 -- then jumped ship to SF and got 2 more in 94 and 95), Zero All-Pro selections. Starter on two SB Championship teams (SB 21 and 25, plus SB 29 with SF)
Ron Stone: The only offensive player on the Giants SB 35 team to make the Pro-Bowl. 2 Pro Bowls as a Giant (2000, 2001, plus one with SF in 2002), 1 All-Pro selection (1st team = 2000, then 1 more with SF in 2002). Was on Dallas' SB 28 and SB 30 winning teams (not a starter) before he became a GIant.
Bob Kratch, Doug Riesenberg, Eric Moore: No Pro Bowls, No All-Pro selections. Starter on SB 25 winners
Brad Benson: 1 Pro Bowl (1986), Starter on one SB Championship team (SB 21)
BIlly Ard, Chris Godfrey, Karl Nelson: No Pro Bowls, No All-Pro selections. Starer on SB 21 winners
Rich Seubert: No Pro Bowls, No All-Pro selections. Starer on SB 42 winners
Kareem McKenzie: No Pro Bowls, No All-Pro selections. Starter on SB 42 and 46 winners
Shaun O'Hara: 1 All-Pro selection (1st team = 2008), 3 Pro Bowls (2008, 2009, 2010), Starter on 1 SB Championship team (SB 42)
David Diehl: 1 All-Pro selection (2nd team = 2008), 1 Pro Bowl (2009), Starter on 2 Super Bowl Championship teams (SB 42 and 46)
So looking at this, it appears as though Snee is at least the best Giants offensive lineman in the past 35 years...he's probably been somewhat underrated due to being TC's son-in-law. Please feel free to contribute. Thanks!
