Giants Roster Breakdown: Josh Brown, PK

Jim O'Connor-USA TODAY Sports

Placekicker Josh Brown had a good season in 2013. Can he repeat it this year?

The New York Giants report for training camp on July 21, less than two months from now. Between now and then we have been breaking down the 90-man roster the team will bring to camp. Today, let's get to know placekicker Josh Brown.

2013 Season In Review

In his first season wearing a Giants' uniform, Brown was impressive. After signing with the Giants in last year's offseason and beating out David Buehler in training camp, Brown went 23-for-26 in 2013. The 23 made field goals were his highest since he made 33 in 2010 and his 88.5 percent success rate -- discounting 2012 when he played in just four games -- was his highest since 2004. Brown made eight field goals between 40-49 yards and two from beyond 50 yards. His long was 52.

2014 Season Outlook

Brown re-signed with the Giants over the offseason on a two-year deal and, barring injuries, shouldn't have much trouble retaining the starting kicker position. The Giants did bring in Brandon McManus, an undrafted rookie from Temple, but the 22-year-old looks like little more than a rep rest for Brown.
