The NFL today released its complete 2014 preseason schedule. We already knew that that New York Giants, featured in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game, would play five preseason games. Now, we have the dates and time. The schedule is as follows:
Sunday, Aug. 3 -- Pro Football Hall of Fame Game vs. Buffalo Bills (Canton, Oh.), 8 p.m., NBC
Saturday, Aug. 9 -- vs. Pittsburgh Steelers, 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, Aug. 16 -- at Indianapolis Colts, 7 p.m.
Friday, Aug. 22 -- at New York Jets, 7:30 p.m.
Thursday, Aug. 28 -- vs. New England Patriots, 7:30 p.m.
The Giants open the regular season on Monday, Sept. 8 on the road vs. the Detroit Lions.
After missing the playoffs in two consecutive seasons, hiring a new offensive coaching staff and turning over a huge portion of the roster the preseason figures to be critical for the Giants. The won-loss record in the five games won't be the measuring stick. Looking for signs of cohesion in the new offense, particularly signs that the Giants can protect the quarterback, will be measuring stick.
