David Wilson has yet to cleared for contact following offseason neck surgery, but it has to be a good sign for both him and the New York Giants that Wilson was a full participant Wednesday in the team's first non-contact OTA of the offseason.
Giants.com says Wilson "worked on both special teams as a returner and in offensive drills."
The Giants have taken the approach that getting Wilson, the team's 2012 first-round pick, back for the 2014 season would be a bonus. They signed Rashad Jennings as a free agent and drafted the powerful Andre Williams. Neither possesses the dynamic breakaway speed Wilson has, however.
As a rookie, Wilson proved to be dynamic as a kickoff returner. With Jennings and Williams likely blocking his path to a heavy load of carries if and when he is cleared to return, perhaps he could reprise that role in 2014. The Giants also have Trindon Holliday and Quintin Demps as kickoff returners.
