Sticking with the "Way Too Early" theme...

Well, the draft is over and so is a lot of the fun stuff for us fans. No more mock drafts, no more best players available, no more arguing why Zack Martin should be the next President of the United States. Now, all we have to talk about is rookie's jersey numbers.... boring. While Ed has given us his way to early 53 man roster projection, I figured I would chime in with some "way to early" season predictions. Why not guess 16 games before the teams are even done signing their draft picks and OTAs have even started yet. Anyway, I am actually going to look at how the Giants match up each week and make my predictions for the season, 4 games at a time.... In May.

Week One: @ Detroit Lions

I think this is a great scenario for the Giants. The Lions defense is definitely not something to be afraid of. They were 18th in the NFL in scoring defense last year, 17th in yards allowed, and 13th in points given up per game. The Lions didn't do much to improve their defense over the offseason so I couldn't think of a better scenario to break out our new offense. I think this game could be a shootout, but I trust our defense over theirs, and predict the Giants walk into Ford Field and leave with a victory over the Lions and new coach Jim Caldwell.

Giants: 1-0

Week Two: Arizona Cardinals

Giants' home opener will be against the Arizona Cardinals. In what is nearly a polar opposite match up of the previous week where offenses will be flying high in Detroit, the Giants now face a highly touted defensive team. The Cardinals had a great year last year, but I have trouble seeing them duplicate that success. The offense simply isn't strong enough. In a low scoring affair, I can see the Giants defense shutting down Larry Fitz and the rest of the Cardinals offense on their way to a 2-0 start to the season.

Giants : 2-0

Week Three: Houston Texans

Giants are back home in week three and in my scenario are looking to stay undefeated. Enter the Houston Texans who I think are one of the more intriguing teams coming into the season. From 12-4 to 2-14, with a lot of talent on their roster, I don't know what to expect. One thing I do know is a QB depth chart of Ryan Fitzpatrick, Case Keenum, Tom Savage, and T.J. Yates isn't good. And I think the Giants will be able to handle any of those 4 QBs in the Meadowlands. One thing is for sure in this game.... That new offensive line will be really tested with JJ Watt and Clowney coming at them every snap. Lack of QB talent comes back to hurt the Texans here and the Giants move to 3-0 on the season.

Giants: 3-0

Week Four: @ Washington Redskins

The dreaded Thursday Night Football game. Giants visit the Redskins on a short weeks rest. Assuming everyone is healthy for the Redskins, I think this could be the most dangerous offense the Giants will have seen up to this point in the season. The defense will have their hands full with RGIII back and with his new buddy DeSean Jackson to throw to. Although the Redskins defense is one of the worst in the NFL, I can see this short week leading to one of those, "wtf is going on" performances by the Giants and unfortunately, despite a 3-0 start, fall behind in the division and drop our first game of the year to the Redskins.

Giants 3-1

That is all for now. I am going to try and do four sections of four games at a time and see what comes of it. A few side notes.

- DRC is going to really be jumping right into the fire. Assuming he will be covering the opponents number one guys, he will have to defend arguably 3 of the top 5 receivers in football (Calvin, Larry, and Andre) in his first three weeks. And then his light week? DeSean Jackson. DRC is going to have a lot to prove to himself and to the team early on in the season.

- Aside from the Cardinals, no secondary in the first four weeks is very threatening. I think this is a wonderful time for Eli to prove he is back and tear apart some pass defenses. Should also be a good time for everyone to adjust to the new McAdoo offense.

- Obviously I am a huge Giants fan and a homer, but I am trying my hardest to judge all of my predictions off of matchups, locations, etc.

Thanks for reading and feel free to comment below. I'd like to see what you guys think of my predictions and what you agree/disagree with.
