Free Agency 2014: New York Giants agree to 1-year contract with Trindon Holliday

KR/PR Trindon Holliday came to terms with the Giants Monday night - Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

Free-agent WR/KR Trindon Holliday agreed to a one-year contract with the New York Giants on Monday

Last year, the New York Giants had one of the worst special teams units in the NFL. This offseason, general manager Jerry Reese has set his sights on changing that. Just 24 hours after New York announced the signing of kick returner Quintin Demps, the team came to terms on a one-year contract with former Denver KR/PR, Trindon Holliday, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Holiday began his career with the Houston Texans where he was a sixth round pick in the 2010 NFL draft. Despite showing promise as a returner, Holliday was cut after struggling with issues holding on to the ball. The 27-year-old, who will turn 28 next month, quickly found a home in Denver. In 2012, Holliday averaged 32.5 yards per kick return and 10.8 per punt. Last year, he finished with 27.7 yards per kick return and 8.5 per punt. Throughout his career, Holliday has scored four touchdowns on returns.

With Demps excelling as a kick returner, Holliday will most likely be slated as the Giants starting punt returner, a role in which New York has seen first hand how dangerous he can be.

With Holliday coming to terms, the Giants have now locked up: Demps, Holliday, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Walter Thurmond in the last 48 hours. Mario Manningham is expected to be in the building tonight and could sign before morning comes.
