No word on whether he had some sort of Jacoby Jones-like epiphany while visiting with the Detroit Lions on Thursday, but free-agent fullback Henry Hynoski has re-signed with the New York Giants.

Hynoski, the Giants' fullback in 2011 and 2012, played only three games in 2013 before going on IR with a shoulder injury. The Giants signed John Conner to replace him, and Hynoski's return sets up a training camp battle for the fullback spot. Call it the battle of the awesome nicknames, the 'Hynocerous' vs. the 'Terminator.'

Let's do a quick 'Tale of the Tape' on the two fullbacks.

Hynoski, 25, was an undrafted free agent. The 6-foot-1, 260-pound Hynoski probably offers more versatility as a pass receiver and even as a runner than Conner. The Pro Football Focus numbers, however, bear out that the foot-11, 240-pound Conner, 27 this summer, is a better blocker. Conner had a +7.0 run-blocking grade from PFF in 2013, and scored +6.8 in 2011. Hynoski's best run-blocking score was +3.2 in 2012.

It is difficult to see the Giants keeping both players, though not impossible. How this turns out probably depends on how new offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo wants to utilize the fullback.
