Football on a Friday afternoon? Yup, it's bowl season! The Heart of Dallas Bowl sees Illinois (6-6) take on Louisiana Tech (8-5) early on a Friday afternoon.
From a draft perspective, there won't be many prospects on display in this game. If there's a player in this game who should interest Giants fans the most is Louisiana Tech offensive lineman Mitchell Bell. Bell is junior college transfer with only two years of experience at Louisiana Tech, but he has helped open some massive holes for their running game. It seems as though the Giants are looking for big, powerful guards to put between their athletic tackles and center, and Bell certainly fits that mold at 6-3, 350 pounds.
Scouts will want to get a good look at Bell's feet and technique to see what kind of athlete he is, and what blocking schemes he can fit in. If he is ruled a "dancing elephant" he could see his stock rise as the draft approaches.
Another Louisiana Tech prospect who might intrigue is wide receiver Eddie Johnson. Johnson is a massive receiver at 6-3, 240. He could get some consideration as a receiver/tight end hybrid from teams looking to follow New England's example.
Teams: Illinois Illini (6-6) vs Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (8-5)
Odds: Louisiana Tech -4.0
