Dowell Loggains, ex-Titans offensive coordinator, to interview with Giants

Dowell Loggains talks with Tennessee quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick - Wesley Hitt

The Giants will reportedly interview former Tennessee offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains.

Former Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains will interview on Wednesday for the New York Giants vacant offensive coordinator position. The news was first reported by @edwerderespn.

Loggains is only 33. His only NFL coaching experience came with the Titans, who hired him in 2008. He served as offensive quality control coach, quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator for part of 2012 and all of 2013. Loggains took over in Tennessee from Chris Palmer, former quarterbacks coach with the Giants and offensive coordinator for Tom Coughlin with the Jacksonville Jaguars for two seasons.

Here is a little more about Loggains from Jimmy Morris of SB Nation's Titans web site, Music City Miracles:

I actually thought Loggains did a decent job this year.  He completely re-designed the offense when Jake Locker went down and had some good game plans.  Most weeks the problem was the quarterback and not the game plan.

With that being said, he didn't do very well with in-game adjustments.  You could tell he had a good plan coming in, but it seemed like he was slow to adjust when the opposing defense threw in a wrinkle.

He is still a really young guy (33) and he has a good reputation around the league. The Bears wanted to interview him a couple of years ago but Mike Munchak blocked it.

ESPN's Werder also reported that Loggains "is being sought after by other NFL head coaching candidates." In addition to working with Palmer, Loggains has worked with Sean Payton, Norm Chow and Mike Heimerdinger. He played quarterback at Arkansas.

Thoughts, Giants' fans?
