Giants complete offensive coaching staff, per reports

Sean Ryan will move from coaching quarterbacks to tight ends for the Giants - Jim O'Connor-USA TODAY Sports

Oregon State offensive coordinator Danny Langsdorf joins staff as quarterbacks coach. Sean Ryan will move to coaching the tight ends.

The New York Giants have reportedly completed the shuffling of their offensive coaching staff. According to the Star-Ledger, the Giants have hired Oregon State offensive coordinator Danny Langsdorf to be their quarterbacks coach. In a corresponding move, former quarterbacks coach Sean Ryan will shift to the role of tight ends coach. Ryan coached Giants' wide receivers before becoming quarterbacks coach.

Langsdorf, 41, has been with Oregon State since 2005, serving as quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator. New offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo was part of that New Orleans staff in 2004. Langsdorf also reportedly has another tie to the Giants' organization. He coached previously with the New Orleans Saints from 2002-2004. Lansgsdorf was a collegiate quarterback at Boise State and Linfield College from 1991-95.

Here is Langsdorf's Oregon State biography. His hiring, along with that of McAdoo, seems to indicate again that the Giants will run a much different offense than they have in recent years.

Here is some of the reaction to the loss of Langsdorf from Building The Dam, SB Nation's Oregon State web site:

Many Beaver fans' most vivid image of Langsdorf is of his remarkably unremarkable run as the play-caller during the disappointing 5-7 2010 season, and the ensuing 3-9 disaster in 2011. But while Langsdorf's playcalling wasn't inspiring (though its worth noting he was again calling the plays when Oregon St. nearly upset Oregon in this year's Civil War, and when the Beavers snapped their 5 game losing streak with a win in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl), his work during the week has been very good.

During those 9 years, Langsdorf led the construction of 8 of Oregon St.'s top 13 teams all time in terms of total offense.

Langsdorf developed Sean Canfield into the Pac-10's leading passer, and Sean Mannion into the #2 passer in the country, after Mannion set the all-time Pac-8/10/12 conference record for passing yards in a season.

The Giants have not officially announced the hire. With the move, however, here is what the revamped offensive coaching staff looks like:

Offensive Coordinator -- Ben McAdoo

Quarterbacks Coach -- Danny Langsdorf

Running Backs Coach -- Craig Johnson

Offensive Line Coach -- Pat Flaherty

Tight Ends Coach -- Sean Ryan

Wide Receivers Coach -- Kevin Gilbride Jr.
