Todd McShay Mock Draft 2.0: OT Taylor Lewan to New York Giants

Taylor Lewan - Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Todd McShay of ESPN is out with version 2.0 of his 2014 NFL Mock Draft, selecting an offensive tackle for the Giants. Mel Kiper is also out with his second mock draft.

Todd McShay figures that the New York Giants will address their porous offensive line with their first pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. In version 2.0 of his 2014 NFL Mock Draft, McShay has selected Michigan offensive tackle Taylor Lewan with the 12th overall selection of the first round. In his Mock Draft version 2.0, Mel Kiper has given the Giants Alabama linebacker C.J. Mosley.

McShay writes:

Lewan could develop into an upgrade at left tackle over Will Beatty, or he could fit in at right tackle, as some believe that Justin Pugh would be a better fit at guard even after his outstanding rookie season at RT. But regardless of where Lewan would play, the Giants need to upgrade their offensive line, and Lewan is the top O-lineman available in this scenario. Top cornerback prospect Justin Gilbert would also be an option, and adding a pass-catching weapon for Eli Manning like USC WR Marqise Lee or UNC TE Eric Ebron could likewise be tempting.

Valentine's View: Is Lewan the best available offensive lineman? I think that is still to be determined. Until proven wrong, however, I will believe that addressing a need on offense will be a more likely scenario for the Giants this May than Kiper's selection of Mosley.
