Somehow, the New York Giants are only trailing the Dallas Cowboys by three points, 13-10, in Sunday's season-opening game. That despite a half of mostly inept offensive football.
Other than a 70-yard touchdown catch by Victor Cruz and a 57-yard catch-and-run by Hakeem Nicks the Giants have been atrocious on offense.
Turnovers on their first three possessions, including two interceptions from Eli Manning (one on his first throw of the season) and a red zone fumble by David Wilson.
The Cowboys held the ball for 21:39 compared to only 8:39 for the Giants. Eli Manning completed only 5-of-11 pases for 165 yards. Wilson ran six times for 16 yards.
The Giants defense held up admirably, keeping the Giants competitive.
Tony Romo completed 25-of-33 passes in the first half for 188 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He left the game when he had the wind knocked out of him on a hit by Justin Trattou and Mathias Kiwanuka late in the second quarter. He is expected to return.
