If it didn't hit us all last week, it hit us this week. Perhaps it was when when FOX flashed the Giants fans with the bags over their heads, we realized that, yes, it has gotten to that point. The Giants need to change. You don't miss the playoffs 4 of 5 seasons, start a season 0-4 (granted, we don't know how it will end,) and keep the same team. If you thought this team made significant changes last off-season, you got another thing coming this off-season. These are some changes I think will, and should be made this off-season, from coaching, all the way down.
Both coordinators need to go
I think this is every Giants fans hope. We all want to wake up tomorrow morning and read that the Giants have fired Gilbride and Fewell, but fact is, we're likely going to have to wait until the season is over for that. Our coordinators are not good, and are clearly not utilizing the talent properly, and their game plans are crap. Kevin Gilbride's play calling has been criticized for years. Perry Fewell really should've been fired after last season, if you ask me. He just isn't a good coordinator, period.
Tom Coughlin should at least consider retirement
I don't think the Giants will ever actually fire him, Coughlin will leave when he wants to leave. He's reached that point in this organization. But even the biggest Coughlin fans can't hide from it, he clearly has not done a good job with this team this year. It's possible that the Giants would like to move in a different direction, but nobody will actually have the stones to tell Coughlin "You're fired" after all he's done for this franchise.
Overhaul the entire o-line
I think this one is pretty obvious. Say goodbye to Diehl, Snee, and maybe even Bass. Bring in youth through the draft and free agency. Build around Pugh. This offensive line is old and ineffective, and they need to go.
For the love of god, pick up a damn linebacker
The Giants have, for some reason, aggressively ignored the linebacker position in recent years. Granted, in this now passing league that the NFL has become, the linebacker position hasn't exactly been as prominent as it used to be, but still, when Spencer Paysinger, Mark Herzlich, and Kieth Rivers are starters on your team, there's a serious problem.
Time to say goodbye to Justin Tuck
It's Damontre Moore's time to shine. Tuck is old and is a shell of his former self. It's inevitable at this point, and this is something that seemed imminent before the season even started.
Let Nicks walk
As much as it pains me to say, I don't think Hakeem Nicks will be a Giant next year, and it's my firm belief that the doesn't want to be a Giant next year. It kills me, because I've always been a big Nicks fan, and seeing him almost not try is painful, but it's an unfortunate reality. He's got attitude issues and isn't what he once was. Let's see what Rueben Randle can do.
Don't re-sign Cullen Jenkins
Another pretty obvious one. Jenkins is 32 and is over the hill, and Jonathan Hankins will hopefully be NFL ready by then.
Sign Stevie and Andre Brown to multi-year deals
These aren't changes, but it's something that needs to happen, and worth mentioning.
So now's your official chance to play GM Giants fans, do you agree, disagree, and what other changes would you make?
