When the 0-3 New York Giants face the 3- 0 Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday (1 p.m. ET, FOX) it will mark the 16th time since 1990 that such an 0-3 vs. 3-0 match-up has taken place. Looking for some good news, Giants' fans? The 0-3 team has actually won five of those games.
Here are some other facts and figures about Sunday's game.
- Giants' coach Tom Coughlin and Chiefs' coach Andy Reid will be facing each other for the 20th time in regular-season play. Reid has a 10-9 edge. Reid's Philadelphia Eagles teams also won the two playoff meetings between the coaches.
- The Giants have allowed an NFL-high 115 points – 36 to Dallas, 41 to Denver and 38 to Carolina. They are the third team in the last 50 years to allow at least 35 points in each of their first three games, joining the 2000 San Francisco 49ers and the 2008 St. Louis Rams.
- We've mentioned it before, but it's worth mentioning again. The last 0-3 team to make the playoffs was the 1998 Buffalo Bills. The Bills won 10 games that year.
- The Chiefs are 14th in the league in points per game (23.7). Defensively, however, Kansas City is allowing only 11.3 points per game, third in the league.
- The Giants need to put out an APB for anyone who knows how to play the offensive line. The Cheifs have a league-best 15 sacks thru three games. The Giants have allowed 11 sacks, fourth-worst in the league.
