Running game... Jacobs

Fellow fans, I implore you to please tell me why the Giants, my beloved team are so enamored with Brandon Jacobs and would sign him over Willis McGahee? As I commented last week on the "Analysis: Brandon Jacobs return to the Giants a logical move", as I suspected, the pep is lost from his step and there would be little if any production from the back which had helped us and had been a catalyst, albeit in the past. Come last Sunday, Jacobs ran the ball 7 times for a total of 4 yards and a touchdown. As great as the touchdown was, I once again wonder why we passed on McGahee to sign Jacobs. If Jacobs were still a formidable threat, he’d still be on the 49er’s roster. This guy should be playing fullback and should be used in short yardage situations only, not a running back who can spell Wilson and Scott. I’m well aware of the concerns with the offensive line however I see the Browns hot to sign McGahee after he passes his physical which the pending deal will most likely be done today. At the end of the season, will be regret not signing him? I don’t buy the concerns of the playbook that had been expressed by some sources and yes, he did fumble five times last year but I don’t think that should be the sole factor. I just don’t understand how Jacobs is an upside over McGahee and the impetus behind the decision to sign him. I welcome your thoughts.
