The New York Giants begin their two-day 2013 rookie mini-camp on Friday. This will be the first chance for the coaching staff to get drafted players on the field, and an opportunity for a number of players signed to contracts as undrafted free agents, invited on a tryout basis or signed to reserve/futures contracts to impress the Giants and earn a shot to make the team in training camp. There may also be a smattering of veterans as various NFL rules do permit some veteran players to participate in 'rookie' camps.
Pat Traina of Inside Football recently posted an unofficial list of players likely to attend the mini-camp. Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News has a list of the UDFA signees and tryout players.
The item likely to draw the most attention Friday and Saturday is what position or positions the Giants choose to utilize first-round pick Justin Pugh in. Speculation has centered around the possibility the versatile lineman could be put into the competition at right tackle.
The Giants will hold morning and afternoon practices both Friday and Saturday.
