The Giants first round pick has stirred up BBV quite a bit, as we have all seen. I think there are a few ways to look at this pick. Everybody has referenced his flexibility and intelligence as his top characteristics, which are undoubtedly positive traits. I see this pick as a potential sign of a change in philosophy on the o-line. Pugh was a protection specialist at Syracuse, and many defensive schemes in the NFL bring pressure from locations other than just the blind side. Protection ability and intelligence will keep our quarterback on his feet, allowing time for our big-play offense to blow the top off of defenses. It is obviously too soon to say if Pugh will function the way we need him to, but i think having strong protection and big play potential will open up the run game and underneath play for DW and Brown. Pugh may not be a road grader, but i think Wilson and Brown are the type of backs that just need a crease to exploit, and their power/explosiveness can sustain the running game. Thanks for playing along on my first post, and I look forward to your comments.
