Lawrence Tynes free agency rumors: Placekicker headed to San Francisco 49ers?

Lawrence Tynes - Tim Heitman-US PRESSWIRE

Lawrence Tynes could end up with the san Francisco 49ers when free agency opens on Tuesday.

Lawrence Tynes appears unlikely to be a free agent for very long. According to CSN Bay Area, the San Francisco 49ers are expected to "strike quickly" to sign a placekicker once free agency opens Tuesday afternoon, with the soon to be former New York Giants' kicker being their apparent target.

Tynes has been with the Giants since 2007. He made 33-of-39 field-goal attempts last season and has made 52-of-63 field goals the past two seasons.

Niners Nation said Tynes would be "solid enough" after a season in which San Francisco saw David Akers make only 29-of-42 field-goal attempts.

Shayne Graham (Houston), Jason Hanson (Detroit) and Steven Hauschka (Seattle) are among the other top kickers scheduled for free agency. Hanson seems likely to stay in Detroit if he continues his career. Could Graham or Hauschka end up in New York as a replacement for Tynes?
