Terrell Thomas Signing: T2 returns to New York Giants with revised contract

Terrell Thomas - Al Bello

After three surgeries on his ACL and having missed the last two seasons Terrell Thomas will be back for another try with the Giants in 2013. He signed a revised contract on Monday.

Terrell Thomas will return to the New York Giants in 2013 on a revised contract. Thomas broke the news himself Monday afternoon, tweeting "Guess whose back?"

Thomas, 28, has missed two consecutive seasons with back-to-back ACL injuries. He has now had three in his career, and would be the first defensive back known to have returned to the NFL from three ACL surgeries if he is able to make it back.

The Giants have not confirmed the deal and no details have officially been released. Reports, however, indicate that the re-worked deal is for one year. Thomas wwas due a $6 million option bonus in 2013, and whatever the terms of the new deal is will save the Giants salary cap space.

Thomas also tweeted that he felt "blessed to have another opportunity."

General manager Jerry Reese had indicated after the end of the 2012 season that if the team brought Thomas back that a move to safety might the proper course of action for the 6-foot-1, 200-pound Thomas.

Thomas was injured two seasons ago during an exhibition game against the Chicago Bears. Last season he was injured early in training camp when he slipped on a grass field at UAlbany.

Truthfully, it's hard to count on Thomas becoming a productive player for the Giants again. It is, however, easy to root for him as he tries.
