New York Giants' news, 12/7: Justin Pugh on verge of rare feat

Elsa

New York Giants' headlines for Saturday, 12/7.

New York Giants' rookie Justin Pugh is four games from accomplishing something the Giants have rarely witnessed. Pugh is four games from starting every game of his rookie year, something that has not happened often.

The Giants' PR Dept. says that if Pugh, the Giants' first-round pick, starts each of the final four games he will become a) the first Giants rookie to start an entire 16-game season since defensive tackle Barry Cofield in 20055; b) the first offensive lineman to do it since David Diehl 10 years ago; and c) the first Giants’ first round draft choice to do so since Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor in 1981.

"You're just showing the guys in this locker room that you're reliable and this organization can count on you to go out there and play every snap, every week and you take pride in that," Pugh said. "Last week, we're there in Washington during pregame and you see (linebacker) London Fletcher, who has started (210) straight games. It's something that's really impressive to see someone do that and obviously you aspire to play every game every time you're available."

Damontre Moore: 'Like riding a bike'

Rookie defensive end Damontre Moore played 17 snaps last Sunday, and should again play a significant role on defense vs. the San Diego Chargers with Jason Pierre-Paul sidelined for the second straight week with a shoulder injury.

"I felt great [vs. Washington]," said Moore. "It's like riding a bike, you never forget how to do it. It was just one of those things, just getting back on the bike, and once I got back on it - it was a little wobbly at first but then once you get riding you're like, ‘Oh man, I never forgot how to do this.' "

Defensive coordinator Perry Fewell said there as "some good, some bad" in Moore's first extended playing time.

"It's good to see him play and it's good to see him get that game experience," Fewell said. "We'd love for him to get more experience, so he'll take more snaps this week."
