Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl, Michigan vs. Kansas State: NFL Draft prospect watch

Gregory Shamus

A look at some of the 2014 NFL Draft prospects in today's Michigan-Kansas State game.

Today the Michigan Wolverines take on the Kansas State Wildcats in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl. These are two solid teams and there are a handful of future Sunday players in the game. The best is Michigan's Taylor Lewan, widely considered one of the best offensive tackles in college football and a near sure-fire first-round pick. Many believe he approaches the level of former Wolverine Jake Long with his size, length, and playing ability. Lewan is powerful and might have been selected ahead of Justin Pugh/Kyle Long last year had he come out. He's the player to watch in this game.

The Wolverines have an intriguing wide receiver on their team in the mold of Jeremy Kerley in Jeremy Gallon. Gallon is undersized, and isn't the speed guy a Trindon Holliday is, but he's tough, elusive, and has good field vision. He's been a very nice return man for the Wolverines and will likely get a shot to play slot receiver in the NFL.

The other draftable player for the Wolverines is Michael Schofield. Schofield has a lot of starting experience and good size at 6-foot-7, 304 pounds. He plays technically sound and can move his feet well. He's not the most dynamic athlete and because of that is likely more of a day three prospect, but he has a shot at starting in the NFL.

Kansas State has two players you're watching the first is decorated safety Ty Zimmerman. Zimmerman has had a penchant for intercepting the football in his career and he has 13 this year. He is an intelligent player and not afraid to mix it up. He isn't the greatest athlete, though, and is similar to Tyler Sash, who ended up more of a special teams guy than a starting safety.
