Antrel Rolle did not take kindly to being left off the 2014 NFL Pro Bowl roster. When teams were announced Friday night and the New York Giants safety was left off the team, named only as a second alternate, Rolle took to Twitter to vent his frustration.
"Tell me which safety has better numbers and made more game changing plays than me this year???? I’ll wait!!!! This probowl sh-t is a joke," Rolle wrote shortly after the teams were announced.
Rolle leads the Giants in tackles with 93 (76 solo) and interceptions (6). Defensive end Justin Tuck was not even named as an alternate despite his nine sacks and solid run defense.
Giants' coach Tom Coughlin spoke to Michael Eisen of Giants.com for his weekly 'Coughlin Corner' segment. Below are a couple of Coughlin's comments about finishing the season with a victory on Sunday.
Eisen: And I would imagine to you there’s a huge difference between finishing 7-9 and 6-10.
Coughlin: "Huge, incredible difference. Plus you go into the offseason having won your final game. It’s a more pleasant atmosphere to work in."
Eisen: If you do win, you’ll be 7-3 in your last 10 games. Would that remove some of the sting from the season for you?
Coughlin: "We’d recognize the fact that this is a group of young men that has refused to give in to all the negativity that surrounded the 0-6 start. It shows the strength of character, it shows the competitive nature of the individual, it shows the fact that they do believe. It hasn’t been in any way the kind of season that we wanted it to be, but nevertheless we’ve tried to do the best we can."
Former New York Giant Nate Robinson was arrested Thursday night on gun and drug charges, one of three people arrested in a police crackdown after weeks of violence in the city, police said.
