Giants' Friday Injury Report: Victor Cruz update, more

Jerrel Jernigan and others have opportunities to impress over the final two weeks - Jim O'Connor-USA TODAY Sports

Offensive line, wide receiver positions appear short-handed for the Giants on Sunday.

New York Giants' head coach Tom Coughlin Friday called the season-ending knee surgery Victor Cruz underwent on Thursday "very unfortunate,' but added that the team is "very confident that the swiftness with which the procedure was done should give him an outstanding opportunity in the offseason to be stronger than ever."

In addition to Cruz, the following Giants will be out Sunday -- Jason Pierre-Paul (shoulder), Peyton Hillis (concussion), Cooper Taylor (hamstring). Offensive lineman David Diehl (knee) did not practice and is doubtful for Sunday's game vs. the Detroit Lions.

"Right now he is just not able to go out there and practice the way that we would like him to. We'll see," Coughlin said.

Offensive lineman James Brewer (ankle) and wide receiver Jerrel Jernigan (knee) are questionable.

Brandon Mosley, who saw his first real playing time last week in relief of Brewer, could start at one guard. Jernigan, Reuben Randle and even Julian Talley could see time at wide receiver. Rookie Michael Cox will the the second running back behind Andre Brown.
