Corey Webster most likely saw his New York Giants' career, and possibly his NFL career, come to an end Tuesday when the Giants placed the nine-year veteran cornerback on season-ending injured reserve. The Giants signed wide receiver Julian Talley off the practice squad to take Webster's spot on the 53-man roster, an indication that they aren't sure if Victor Cruz will return this season from his concussion and sprained knee.
Webster, 31, played in only four games this season due to groin and ankle injuries. He has not played since Week 8 vs. the Philadelphia Eagles. Trumaine McBride has played well replacing Webster, as has Jayron Hosley when given the opportunity.
Talley, a 6-foot-1, 192-pound receiver from UMass, has spent the season on the Giants' practice squad.
The Giants added Kendall Gaskins, a 6-foot, 239-pound running back, to their practice squad.
Webster's last couple of seasons with the Giants weren't memorable, but he was part of two championship teams and had the overtime interception of Brett Favre in the 2007 NFC Championship Game.
What are your thoughts, Giants' fans, as we likely say goodbye to a veteran Giant?
