So much for all that optimism from New York Giants' center Jim Cordle about possibly being able to play Sunday night vs. the Washington Redskins. The Giants today placed Cordle, who suffered a partially torn patellar tendon vs. the Dallas Cowboys, on injured reserve. Offensive lineman Stephen Goodin was elevated from the practice squad to fill Cordle's roster spot.
Originally signed by the Giants in 2010 as an undrafted free agent, Cordle was in his third year on the 53-man roster. He started seven games this season, the only starts of his career, first when David Baas injured neck and then when Baas went on IR with a knee injury.
Goodin, 6-foot-6, 308 pounds, spent this season and much of 2012 on the Giants' practice squad.
