Teammates of the Week: Andre Brown, Terrell Thomas

Andre Brown and Terrell Thomas are the Giants' Teammates of the Week.'

For this week's 'Call of Duty' sponsored post I have selected running back Andre Brown and cornerback Terrell Thomas as the New York Giants' 'Teammates of the Week.'

Brown was the star of the day. He had 30 carries for 115 yards in his season debut after recovering from his second broken leg in less than a season. Fifty-five of those yards from the hard-running Brown came after contract, meaning he got basically half of his yardage on his own.

Thomas made the game's most critical defensive play when he snuffed out an Oakland scoring threat with an interception he returned 65 yards to the Raiders' 5-yard line. The play came in the third quarter with the Giants trailing, 20-14. It set up the go-ahead score (a 1-yard run by Brown) and propelled the Giants to their third straight victory.

Both players, of course, also need to be recognized for the adversity they have overcome.

Brown missed his rookie season in 2009 due to a torn achilles tendon. He bounced around the league before returning to the Giants. Prior to last season he had only two NFL carries. He finally got his opportunity last season, gaining 385 yards and scoring eight touchdowns in 10 games before breaking his leg. He broke the same leg in the preseason this year.

"You can’t think about or dwell on the past with an injury. Just have to go in and continue to move forward and remain positive," Brown said. "Don’t look back. If I looked back at all the injuries I had, I probably wouldn’t be here right now. Just move forward and keep working."

Thomas' story has been well-documented. He has come back from three ACL tears, including back-to-back ones that cost him the past two seasons.

"I'm just blessed, man. I just thank God for putting me in this position, giving me the grace to come back from three ACL surgeries and play in the fashion I am. I can't thank the Giants enough, my teammates, everyone who believes me," Thomas said.

For what they did Sunday, and what they endured to get to that point, Brown and Thomas are the 'Teammates of the Week.'
