Chris Snee Injury: Veteran lineman placed on IR by New York Giants

Snee faces hip surgery, career may be in doubt.

Chris Snee was placed on injured reserve Friday by the New York Giants, ending his 2013 season and possibly his NFL career. The 31-year-old 10-year veteran is likely facing his second hip surgery in as many years.

The Giants replaced Snee on the roster with linebacker Jon Beason, acquired via trade from the Carolina Panthers.

Snee did not want to address his future when he spoke to reporters on Friday.

"That's not something I'm thinking about right now," Snee said. "I'm honestly just trying to get over the frustration of this and deal with surgery and deal with rehab. I'll think about that later."

Snee is a four-time Pro Bowler and one-time All-Pro who has been the Giants' best offensive lineman most of the time since being the team's second-round pick in 2004.

Snee had surgery on left hip after last season. Now his issue is with his right hip.

"I've always been a guy that by Friday could suit up and play. I was kind of secretly hoping I'd wake up and things would feel differently, I would respond to the treatment and the medicine. It just didn't happen. It's frustrating," Snee said. "It's just a new situation for me. I've always been able to play through things. Sometimes things nobody knew about, things that I kept to myself, but I had to be honest with everyone because it really got to the point where I was doing no good, to be honest."

"It's tough. It's tough to watch and not be able to help. That's kind of the frustrating part. I couldn't do anything. Even when I was out there, obviously it wasn't a help."
