Andre Brown - He will be back against Oakland. He needs to be the lead guy the rest of the way. I still say that the Giants would be in sole possession of 1st place right now if he didn't get injured in pre-season. No offense to Hillis and Jacobs for their efforts these last few weeks, but AB2 would have put up over 150 each game with some TDs based on his speed, vision, and the improved OL play. He’s not a track star like Wilson, but he will certainly be a big improvement over the guys these guys.
David Wilson - I do not know who has the final say on whether he plays or not, but that evaluation and decision should be coming soon. Even though he says he is fine, do the Giants risk sending him back out there? If he is not cleared then he's going to be IR'd and this discussion is moot. Otherwise, he needs to play and be used as the change of pace to AB2. 10-15 touches a game. The guy is a game changer, but IMO he shouldn’t be taking the lion’s share of the snaps, yet.
Peyton Hillis – I just don’t see how they cut him. Yes he’s slow. But he has performed very well in pass protection and appears to be the first RB since Tiki that has shown the ability to catch the ball out of the back field. I can picture them using him as the 3rd down/obvious passing down situational RB.
Brandon Jacobs – I am a huge Big Boy fan. I was excited when he resigned. I was also pleasantly surprised when he put up 106 and 2 TDs against the Bears. The problem is, I am not convinced that I couldn’t have matched that same production myself. He’s still slow and now has a suspect hammy. I think he does a great job in pass protection, however he has never been a threat in the passing game. I think Hillis has the edge over him right now and I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets IR’d.
Michael Cox – MOAR Cox is what I’ve been saying for weeks now, but he just hasn’t gotten the playing time. I like his skill set and he is obviously a lot faster than Hillis and Jacobs. However, I don’t know if we have seen enough of him to keep him with an all-of-a-sudden crowded backfield. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but if the Giants do elect to cut him and he goes unsigned I think he is still practice squad eligible. Obviously, that is taking a big risk if they do think he can be a contributor in the future. I’d like them to keep him and see what more he can do with more opportunities, but they have a decision to make.
With the emergence of John Connor as a solid blocker that can line up pretty much anywhere and the use of the jumbo package, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Giants keep all 5 RBs on the active roster and end up getting rid of one of the TE’s. Maybe Adrien Robinson finally gets IR’d. Maybe Donnell or Bear gets cut. Obviously Donnell had a bone headed play yesterday and should have had the TD, but I just don’t see the upside of having Bear on this roster anymore. I know most everyone would prefer for Meyers to get the boot, but I do not see them doing that at this point of the season.
