The coaching and general manager carousel continues to spin in the NFL, and the futures of a pair of New York Giants' executives remain purely a matter of speculation.
Giants' Director of College Scouting Marc Ross and Senior Pro Personnel Analyst Dave Gettleman remain on the radar of the Carolina Panthers, with both expected to interview there this week. Ross has the more recognizable name, but Gettleman seems to be considered the candidate who fits the Panthers better:
Gettleman's pro personnel background that fits in better with the list of candidates the team are bringing in. Everything has been pointing to the organization looking at executives who heavily dabble in evaluating practice squad talent, sizing up potential trade targets, and assessing the value of free agents -- in house, and from other teams.
Ross has been connected to several other openings, but his market may be drying up. He is reportedly interviewing with the New York Jets today, but San Francisco 49ers Director of Player Personnel Tom Gamble is expected to end up with that job. The Jacksonville Jaguars had expressed interest in Ross, but he does not appear to be a finalist there. Ross has also been connected to the vacant San Diego Chargers GM job, and no one really seems to know what the story is with the Chargers.
