New York Jets coach Rex Ryan - Debby Wong-USA TODAY Sports
Marc Ross, the Giants' Director of College Scouting, has an interview scheduled with the New York Jets about their vacant general manager job.
New York Giants Director of College Scouting Marc Ross is set to interview with the New York Jets on Monday for their vacant general manager job.
The biggest question about the Ross interview with the Giants' MetLife Stadium co-tenants is whether this is a serious interview for Ross, or one that will simply allow the Jets to fulfill the NFL's Rooney Rule requirement for interviewing minority candidates. There is a report that the Jets are set to hire Tom Gamble, the Director of Pro Player Personnel for the San Francisco 49ers, to replace Mike Tannenbaum as general manager.
Of course, not getting the Jets job might actually be a good thing for Ross. Inheriting Rex Ryan and coach and having to dig out from under all of the chaos that always surrounds the Jets would be a difficult undertaking, and Ross has other suitors. The Carolina Panthers, San Diego Chargers and Jacksonville Jaguars have all expressed interest.
