I would go with Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson for this one. Compiling 2,097 yards rushing and missing Eric Dickerson's all-time single-season record within a year of a devastating knee injury would qualify him, I think.

You can argue Peyton Manning if you like. Maybe even any of the rookie quarterbacks who have taken their teams to the playoffs. I'm sticking with Peterson, though.
