Giants NFL Draft 2013: Picks, needs, TV schedule, mock drafts, big board and more

Debby Wong-USA TODAY Sports

Everything you need to know about the New York Giants and the NFL Draft.

We have been writing about the 2013 NFL Draft here at Big Blue View for months now, and it is finally almost here. This is our Big Blue View New York Giants Draft Guide, a compilation of information you need to watch the draft, and a synopsis of all of the information we have provided you over the past few months.

The Basics

The draft will be held from Thursday, April 25 to Saturday, April 27 at Radio City Music Hall.

Round 1 -- Thursday, 8 p.m. ET

Rounds 2 & 3 -- Friday, 6:30 p.m. ET

Round 4-7 -- Saturday, Noon ET

The draft will be televised by both ESPN and the NFL Network.

Giants' Draft Choices

The Giants have eight selections over the three days. They are as follows:

Round 1 (19th overall)

Round 2 (49th)

Round 3 (81st)

Round 4 (116th)

Round 5 (152nd)

Round 6 (187th)

Round 7 (225th)

Round 7 (253rd, compensatory selection)

Giants' Draft Needs

Offensive Line -- The Giants have a hole at right tackle where David Diehl is adequate at best and James Brewer is untested. at guard Kevin Boothe is on a one-year contract and Chris snee is on the back side of a tremendous career. The top six offensive linemen are expected to be gone by No. 19, so the Giants could wait until the second or third day of the draft to address this.

Defensive End -- Osi Umenyiora is an Atlanta Falcon. Justin Tuck has had two sub-par seasons in a row. Mathias Kiwanuka is likely to move back to defensive end to provide depth, but the Giants could use an impact player. Both Bjoern Werner and Tank Carradine of Florida State could be available at No. 19.The Giants could even select a defensive tackle if someone like Sheldon Richardson of Missouri is available,

Linebacker -- The Giants starting linebackers at present would appear to be Dan Connor, Keith Rivers and Jacquain Williams. That's not all that impressive. The Giants have not taken a linebacker in the first round since 1984. Could they do it this time?

Defensive Back -- The Giants have questions at cornerback, where only Price Amukamara played well a season ago. They have Stevie Brown and Antrel Rolle at safety, but the depth behind them is questionable.

General manager Jerry Reese espoused the 'best player available' mantra during his recent pre-draft press conference.

"We just go into the draft looking for the best player up there. I feel like a broken record up here – you guys come in here and I say the same thing every year. We go into the draft – we really do – we go in there looking for the best player. And that is what is important to us, is to try to pick the best player.
