Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily New has listed Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o, Georgia linebacker Alec Ogletree and Alabama right tackel D.J. Fluker as his top three targets for the New York Giants with the 19th overall selection in the 2013 NFL Draft.
Vacchiano on Te'o:
The Giants have been abysmal at drafting linebackers and are desperate for help at that position. They probably need an outside guy more than an inside guy, but if they think Te’o can be an impact player they might not care.
The Giants’ record of drafting LBs aside, they cut Michael Boley and are moving Mathias Kiwanuka back to DE, leaving the outside spot in the hands of unproven Jacquian Williams and Spencer Paysinger and injury-prone Keith Rivers. They need help.
With David Diehl almost certainly in his final season, the Giants need a right tackle. They seem committed to James Brewer, but he’s an untested fourth-rounder from 2011 that they always knew would be a project. They might not be able to pass up a top prospect at that spot.
