For today's 2013 NFL Draft prospect profile we'll take a look at another linebacker option for the New York Giants likely in the second or third round -- Sio Moore of Connecticut. It is no secret that the Giants have to improve their linebacker corps. The question is will they do it early in the draft, something they have been hesitant to do in the past two decades.
His full name is Snorsio Moore and he was born in Liberia just as an FYI.

Pros
A versatile linebacker who played a number of spots for the Huskies on the edge and in the middle. Moore has some natural pass rushing ability (16 sacks in his college career) and that should translate into the NFL because of his large (10.25-inch) heavy hands and functional strength. Explosive moving forward and tested well at the combine finishing in the top of the following categories 40-yard dash (4.65), bench press (29 reps), vertical jump (38 inches), and broad jump (127 inches). Showed well at the East-West Shrine Game and Senior Bowl. A lot of upside, a lot of experience.

Cons
Doesn't play quite as fast on tape as he tested which could indicate questionable instincts. He doesn't shed blockers all that well (but that's really a problem with many college linebackers as you've probably noticed reading all the reports we've done). Good, but not great size. Some questions about consistent effort, tackling ability. Nott as fluid as say Arthur Brown, Alec Ogletree.

Does He Fit With The Giants?
He does. He's athletic and he fills a big position of need. He offers good pass rushing ability from the SAM position which is something the Giants need.

Final Thought
Moore is talented but there's something that's a little off and I think it's questionable instincts, but players can improve in their reactions. Moore flashed at times on film and did so in a variety of roles. He was listed closer to 225-230 pounds during the season, but measured in at 245 pounds. He's actually the highest on my board than all of the other boards and I wouldn't have any issue with the Giants taking him in the second round because he has good upside and might be the most natural and best 43 SAM linebacker in the draft.
