Mel Kiper, Todd McShay update 2013 NFL Mock Drafts

Zach Ertz - Jayne Kamin-Oncea-US PRESSWIRE

Mel Kiper and Todd McShay have released new mock drafts. Which pick do you like better for the Giants -- Kiper's choice of tight end Zach Ertz or McShay's pick of linebacker Alex Ogletree?

ESPN NFL Draft gurus Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay each issued their latest 2013 NFL Mock Draft updates on Thursday. Who did they select for the New York Giants with the 19th overall pick in the first round? Let's take a look.

Kiper -- Zach Ertz, TE, Stanford

Kiper writes:

The Giants got passable tight end play in 2012 from Martellus Bennett, but they could really use a more complete, dynamic player at the position. Bennett could be gone by April, for starters, and they really need to outfit Eli Manning with a difference-maker at the position. Ertz is a good one, a hands-catcher who can really move at over 250 pounds. Giants fans wondering about the ceiling on this kid should watch the Rose Bowl. He can beat teams up the seam, work the edges and use his size and strength to shield defenders and create matchup problems all over the field. He's ready to play now.

Valentine's View: The only reason that, right now, I can find to argue against this selection is that the guy does not play in the defensive front seven or on the offensive line.

Kiper leaves a variety of players the Giants might be interested in, including right tackle D.J. Fluker of Alabama and several defensive tackles, on the board when making this pick.

McShay -- Alec Ogletree, LB, Georgia

McShay writes:

The Giants could also address needs at offensive tackle, cornerback, tight end or defensive end here, but if Ogletree's character checks out he is a steal this late in the first round. He is one if the best pound-for-pound athletes in the class and has the range to chase plays from sideline to sideline.

Valentine's View: Our man Jesse Bartolis has an undeniable man-crush on Ogletree and would love this pick. I suspect many of you would love it, as well. McShay leaves Manti Te'o on the board while making his selection of Ogletree for the Giants.
