I am not here to say Ramses will cure the poor Goal to go offense. JR drafted Barden because of his height and ball skills. He needs to be on the field for opportunistic series (mainly redzone). How many times have we gone over this. Put him out on the hash. It makes the defense at least think about that. He is a mismatch due to height every single time he is on the field and especially in the red zone. TC and KG need to really get away from the mentality of being loyal to their veterans. Got to give the kid some reps to see if he has what it takes. The coaches don't play him for 3 games, then give him a shot and he screws up. This is what happens. He screws up because the coaches don't give him consistent reps. You can't build consistency with a young player if you refuse to play him, or you refuse to let him have some growing pains. Young guys will make mistakes but removing them immediately after said mistake early in the game (when they are clearly in the gameplan... David Wilson week 1 Cowboys) does more hurt than good.
Give Barden a shot it will open up the run game especially in the goal to go situations. No DBack is going to win a one on one jump ball with him. He can't possibly screw up when everyone knows the fade is coming. Even if they don't go to him he can run into the endzone and seal his man.
Another thing thing that was discouraging is the playcalling on the goal line. Gilbride seems to get thick headed down there. Listen Kevin our team sucks at rushing the ball. If we focus on passing the ball down teams throats it will open up the running game. If we line up in a stacked I formation everyone in the stadium knows its going to be a run. Go play action here, if we show that play early in the season, teams will know its in the playbook and be ready for it. But it will make them vulnerable in other aspects of the game. You play to win KG, not to hide the playbook. Your going to run the exact same play to the reverse side? Seriously, I don't want to sound obtuse here but that doesn't even work in Madden. It's definitely not going to work in the NFL. This Giants OLine is not the Lombardi Packers. Be creative with your playcalling. If you want to run the ball on the goal line try this idea. Put Barden up top, Hakeem in the slot and Randle on the other hash. Those are all big guys who can win battles. The Cowboys will think we are going to pass the ball with those three guys in the formation. Bradshaw moonwalks in blindfolded. The Giants exploited several teams last season with 3 WRs on the field. We don't need a jumbo formation. We can't run the ball, I repeat Kevin we can not run the ball. Quit trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. Play to your strengths not your weaknesses. Quit forcing things and let them come to you. Or just give up and let Eli do all the playcalling.
Radio...I'm not sure what to think at this point...I know injuries forced your hand a bit this matchup but you reverted back to "YOUR" ways not what works for these players. Perhaps the execution was just poor and the guys just weren't ready and we needed to be punched in the mouth to be reminded that every week we need to bring our A game or we will lose.
Well hopefully we can take a few of the next matchups, I will not be around for them, maybe I can wake up at 1 am on the boat and catch a game if they even have them televised. On a carrier its a guarantee. On a frigate well not so much...Simmsy I posted my weeks 2/3 and Thursday night matchup for week 4 on the week 1 BBV pickem thread. Let's see how terrible I do for picking weeks ahead of schedule. See you guys in a few weeks. LETS GO GMENNNN!!!
