I feel like everyone has David Carr slated in the backup QB role without a thought to Perriloux being anything more than competition + a practice squad add but...
The giants clearly like Perrilloux, as per bringing him back to his second camp. Every highlight on giants.com is of perrilloux effortlessly hitting 20+ yard throws - albeit against inferior competition. Perrilloux was as good if not better than the often hyped Matt Flynn back at his days of LSU before his dismissal. His character was always questioned as a young guy for smoking weed and not going to class - but hey, I know a lot of very successful people that did this during college. He brings a lot to the table in terms of athleticism, arm strength and his ability to run complex offenses.
We know what Carr brings to the table, a 33 year old guy that is willing to put the team first and help the development of young players. Carr is an underrated athlete and with his age, he probably would not be as effective as he was 3-4 years ago, even if he has improved with his presnap skills, the game is played once the ball is snapped.
This is more for a topic of discussion, but if Perrilloux has a strong preseason do you think the Giants should roll the dice on him?
This is Perrilloux rivals page from 2005: http://rivals.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting/football/recruiting/player-Ryan-Perrilloux-18672 the only quarterback ahead of him was Mark Sanchez.
