After the Bears, things are a bit clearer. Let's try this again.
(locks in bold)
Offense (25) :
QB (2) : Eli Manning, David Carr
RB (3) : Ahmad Bradshaw, David Wilson, D.J. Ware / Andre Brown / Da'Rell Scott
(Previous selection: Ahmad Bradshaw, David Wilson, D.J. Ware, Da'Rell Scott)
Since I have added one more player at the WR position, I needed to cut somewhere else. In the end I had to chose between S, DE and RB and decided to take 1 RB out.
Not sure that Ware is a lock anymore. He'll need to beat Brown to keep his spot. Scott is not a lock yet but he has strong case to be on this team.
FB (1) : Henry Hynoski
WR (7) : Hakeem Nicks, Victor Cruz, Rueben Randle, Domenik Hixon, Jerrel Jernigan, Ramses Barden, David Doulgas
(Previous selection: Hakeem Nicks, Victor Cruz, Rueben Randle, Domenik Hixon, Jerrel Jernigan, Ramses Barden)
I said before the game that if Douglas kept it quiet, he could end up in the practice squad. Well obviously the guy didn't read my post :) Now the Giants have to get him a roster spot or lose him. The guy can do a lot of things on the field.
Regarding Hixon, I am not really sure if we can say that his spot is really locked. He hasn't shown much during the preseason even though the practice reports are quite good. He is a semi lock.
Jernigan is also failing to show up on game day but since he was drafted high last year, he isn't going anywhere.
Barden is now locked for good in my eyes. This performance saved him.
TE (3) : Martellus Bennett, Adrien Robinson, Bear Pascoe
OL (9) : Chris Snee, David Baas, Kevin Boothe, Sean Locklear, David Diehl, Will Beatty, James Brewer, Jim Cordle, Matt McCants/Brandon Mosley
(Previous selection: Chris Snee, David Baas, Kevin Boothe, Sean Locklear, David Diehl, Will Beatty, James Brewer, Jim Cordle / Mitch Petrus, Matt McCants/Brandon Mosley)
Petrus is out IMO. The guy's just horrible on the field. Brewer also looks bad but he was drafted in the 4th round last year so just like JJ he isn't going anywhere.
Defense (25) :
DT (5) : Linval Joseph, Marvin Austin, Dwayne Hendricks, Markus Kuhn, Rocky Bernard/Marcus Thomas
(Previous selection: Linval Joseph, Marvin Austin, Dwayne Hendricks, Markus Kuhn, Rocky Bernard)
Kuhn is definitely staying. The guy has been taking snaps against the Bears starters and he was quite good IMO. I liked what I saw from Thomas but he'll have to beat Bernard to get a spot
DE (4) : Jason Pierre-Paul, Justin Tuck, Osi Umenyiora, Adrian Tracy/Adewele Ojomo
(Previous selection: Jason Pierre-Paul, Justin Tuck, Osi Umenyiora, Adrian Tracy)
Nice game from Ojomo. I believe that Tracy is a semi lock because he is PS ineligible while Ojomo can go on the PS. So the best way to keep both guy would be to have Tracy on the roster and Ojomo on the PS.
LB (7) : Keith Rivers, Michael Boley, Mathias Kiwanuka, Mark Herzlich, Chase Blackburn, Jacquian Williams, Greg Jones / Spencer Paysinger
CB (5) : Corey Webster, Terrell Thomas, Prince Amukamara, Jayron Hosley, Michael Coe / Justin Tryon / Bruce Johnson / whoever can step up his game
(Previous selection: Corey Webster, Terrell Thomas, Prince Amukamara, Jayron Hosley, Michael Coe)
Prince injury makes this position even trickier...
S (4) : Antrel Rolle, Kenny Phillips, Will Hill, Deon Grant / Sash when his suspension ends / no one
(Previous selection: Antrel Rolle, Kenny Phillips, Will Hill, whoever steps up)
Deon is waiting and I wouldn't be surprised if the Giants decided to bring him back as the 3rd S while Sash is out. The Giants could also go with just 3 S. That would be risky but already did that kind of choice with the TE position in 2010.
Special Team (3) :
K (1) : Lawrence Tynes
P (1) : Steve Weatherford
LS (1) : Zak DeOssie
What do you think of that?
