Q: I guess it’s nice to be a week into camp and the coach singles you out for having a good summer?
A: Yeah, to be honest I didn’t even know that until I came here today. A lot of being a rookie is just learning and taking it one day at a time and giving it your all at practice. Obviously, we’ve got a lot of great guys to learn from so you just try to pick up as many things as you can and work hard every day.
Q: Do you think you’re doing well? Are you pleased with what you’ve done so far?
A: Yeah, I mean when you come in learning you’re going to make mistakes. It’s a big learning process so you’ve got to take it one play at a time. If you do something good you’ve got to treat it like you do something bad. I’ve tried to make an effort to be consistent and I try to get better every day that I step out there.
Q: David, as an undrafted free agent obviously the Giants weren’t your only choice. Why did you choose to come here?
A: Obviously, they’re a great team and a great organization. I’ve always heard great things about Coach Coughlin and about [the Giants] building up young players. You see players like Victor Cruz that came up and got a shot while he was an undrafted free agent, and you’ve seen the things that he was able to do. The Giants do things the right way and it was a great opportunity to come up here.
Q: Can you talk about making the most of an opportunity? Is it magnified a little bit in training camp? Every play and every opportunity is important?
A: Yeah, I guess you could say that just because you have to take advantage of every rep that you get in. When you’re not one of the first or second string guys you’ve definitely got to take advantage of the reps that you get in there but you’ve just got to take it one rep at a time. You can’t look too far ahead. You’ve just got to go out there and make the most of it every time you get in.
Q: With Mario gone and Hakeem out, do you feel like there’s an opportunity for you there to get chances and make the most of them?
A: Like I said, there’s a ton of great receivers on this team. What I’m trying to do right now is just learn from them and give them my all and do my best. That’s really all you can do.
