The New York Giants might have dodged a bullet Saturday evening as Jayron Hosley's foot injury does not appear to be as bad as first thought. Tom Coughlin said the team is conducting more tests, but for now it appears to be a turf toe issue. Coughlin indicated Hosley would be very sore on an injury he reportedly suffered during his interception return for a touchdown. You can check out video of the return after the jump.
While this does not appear to be a broken foot, turf toe can be a nagging injury. The rookie third-round pick out of Virginia Tech was looking like he could become the team's primary slot cornerback, and the pick-six was only helping his cause. If the turf toe diagnosis sticks, this will delay his role as the slot cornerback. Even if he starts feeling better this week, odds are pretty good that he will sit out next week, if not the following week to get healthy for the regular season.
