We move to the right side of the offensive line today as you guys vote for the Big Blue View Preason All-NFC East Team. Choosing a right tackle is your task today.
The nominees are after the jump.
David Diehl, Giants -- Giants fans know the deal with Diehl. He has moved all across the offensive line, playing every position except center during his nine-year career. He doesn't seem to be outstanding individually at any of them, but his versatility and ability to do at least an acceptable job at pretty much any of the spots he is asked to play has helped the Giants win two Super Bowl titles. Last season he played left guard for 10 games, then moved to left tackle when Will Beatty was injured. He allowed 13 sacks on the season and had an awful -58.1 Pro Football Focus grade. Yet, the Giants don't win without him. Who else was going to play left tackle? This season the Giants ask Diehl to move to right tackle, where he last played in 2004. Maybe the fact that fewer elite pass rushers will line up in front of him will help him.
Doug Free, Cowboys -- A little bit like Diehl, free is being moved from the left side to the right side this season, switching places with second-year player Tyron Smith. Free started on the right side in 2009 for Dallas, but played the left side the past two seasons. In 2011, he allowed 10 sacks and PFF gave him a grade of -11.9.
Jammal Brown, Redskins -- A six-year veteran, two-time Pro Bowler and 2006 All-Pro, Brown was awful for Washington last season. He posted a -18.5 PFF score and allowed 9 quarterback sacks. Kevin Ewoldt of Hogs Haven informs us, however, that Brown has spent the offseason working in the D.C. area to get healthy and improve his conditioning in hopes of having a better 2012 season.
Todd Herremans, Eagles -- Herremans has been a starter for the Eagles for six seasons now. Last season was his first at right tackle after having been Philadelphia's left guard for five years. He played well, allowing only four sacks and ending the season with a PFF grade of +2.4.
