Tuesday I brought up the question of which of the last two New York Giants Super Bowl-winning teams was better -- the 2007 version or the 2011 version. Let's begin positional comparisons of the two teams today by looking at the offensive lines.

2007 Offensive Line: Left Tackle -- David Diehl; Left Guard -- Rich Seubert; Center -- Shaun O'Hara; Right Guard -- Chris Snee; Right Tackle -- Kareem McKenzie

2011 Offensive Line: LT -- Will Beatty/Diehl; Left Guard -- Diehl/Kevin Boothe/Mitch Petrus; Center -- David Baas/Boothe; RT -- Snee; RT -- McKenzie

Honestly, I don't think this is much of a debate at all. The 2007 offensive line was one of the best in the league, if not the best. It was also completely healthy. Snee was a dominant player, and O'Hara and Seubert were excellent. McKenzie was one of the league's best right tackles and Diehl did an adequate job on the left side.

In 2011, Snee and McKenzie were not the same players they had been in 2007 and the rest of the line had been shuffled -- and suffered injuries. David Baas did not play as well as the Giants hoped after they signed him as a free agent and Beatty suffered a season-ending injury.

The Giants spent much of 2007 producing huge numbers in their passing game often despite their offensive line's difficulties, not because of the line. The woes of the running game were largely caused by the line's troubles.
