With the Giants having terminated the contract of running back Brandon Jacobs after failing to reach an agreement with the seven-year veteran on a reduced salary, it’s widely expected that New York might target a running back early in next month’s draft.
However, such a move doesn’t appear to fit the Giants’ usual agenda. While there are still a few more weeks to go before the draft, the thinking at this point is that the Giants will look to acquire a running back late in the draft that they can develop, and let the duo of Da’Rel Scott and D.J. Ware battle for the No. 2 spot behind Ahmad Bradshaw.
