Domenik Hixon Signing: Wide Receiver Back With Giants

Domenik Hixon has been re-signed by the New York Giants. Hixon broke the news himself via Twitter Friday afternoon, and the Giants released the news officially shortly thereafter.

Hixon, a wide receiver, missed all of 2010 and and played just two games last season due to knee injuries.

"It's one of those things, they gave me an opportunity when I got released from Denver (in 2007)," said, Hixon, who thanked the Giants and their fans today via Twitter. "And then these past two years with knee injuries they stuck with me. They could have cut me and let me be on my way and be done with me. But they didn't do that. They treated me the same and I really appreciate that. I know a lot of times in the NFL loyalty isn't that big. But in this situation I really felt like I wanted to be here. They helped me out time and time again. I wanted to stay here and repay that."

What kind of player can Hixon be after missing successive seasons with knee injuries? Terms of Hixon's new contract were not disclosed, but this would certainly seem like a low-risk, potentially high-reward type move for the Giants.

"I'm 27 years old," Hixon said. "This isn't a one-and-done type deal. I plan to play four or five more years, longer than that if I'm able. This is just a little interruption."
