PrintEverybody loves a parade, and the New York Giants are having one today. The team's 2012 Super Bowl Championship Parade steps off at 11 a.m. ET today.
The parade through the Canyon of Heroes will be followed by a ceremony at City Hall, then a celebration at MetLife Stadium. Our man Sean Kerr is supposed to be in attendance at the event today, and should have his take on the events of the day later this afternoon or on Wednesday.
If you aren't attending, there are still plenty of ways you can watch the parade.
Giants.com will be streaming the event. ESPN3 will also be streaming the parade. ESPN New York will be streaming the event and ESPN Radio New York AM 1050 will be broadcasting throughout the parade and ceremonies.
Check Big Blue View on Twitter for my thoughts and probably lots of player and media re-tweets. And use this as Open Thread throughout the day to chat about the parade.

I love a parade
I work right along the parade route and it’s already getting loud, and has been for at least an hour. It was pretty backed when I got off the train at about 8:55, too. I imagine it’ll be deafening when they finally get here.

I mean what goes on there? I’m over an hour away and it’s only for 30 mins, so I’d love to go, but i’m like wtf about what is going on.
I think its worth it just to be in the stadium with all the Giants fans, and there will probably be one hell of a party in the parking lot. It will be like a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Thought about going to the parade, but didn’t want to fight the crowd. Given how nice it is out, I just knew it’d be packed. At least my job put it up on the TV in the cafeteria and treated us all here at the office to a pizza party for lunch.

He is a not guy who will win
with the current run/pass ratio they employ in Philly… but you use McCoy (a crazy good weapon) more, it allows Vick some mroe time to pass, or tuck the ball and run. It is not that insane of an idea honestly, as he has shown flashes of being able to make the right decisions in his career.
He could make a run
But he’d need more help than any of the guys mentioned I mentioned above.

but Vick is not quite as good when asked to be a big passer… he is best used with a bit mroe rushing, allowing him to rush more himself, and pass in more opportunistic situations. He could be truly awesome, if they best used his skills as they are (and not make him work outside that).

you should always remember to have a title, in case someone on the thread wants to minimize your post. This is really important on gameday threads and GIFs.

Long Overdue Congratulations
I just wanted to stop in and say congrats to all the Giants fans. It was a close game but in my opinion it was never in doubt. Giants looked incredible and Eli has certainly ended the argument about where he stands. Not to say people still wont say otherwise. But you won’t catch me questioning his toughness, skills, or clutch play ever again. Id posted sooner but spent the whole game and next day with a vomiting 3 yr old. And he hardly drank a thing. :) I kid I kid.
Again, a big Congratulations to the Giants. Looks forward to playing the Super Bowl Champs next season.

most folks on any site would have to admit that the better team won. And as the poster below said, this had to be the hardest road to a Superbowl in some time. I have always been a Peyton fan (pops went to UT) and said Eli would neve be as good. Well, obviously I was wrong. Win as many games as you want (07 Pats), but all that matters is the post season and Eli is as clutch as them come.

I'm gonna piss some of you or maybe all of you off.
That Chrystler add with Clint Eastwood was as moving (and mayby more moving ) than the Giants win. Why is that? Well when it started I heard Eastwood’s voice and I like any and all of his movies and I like him as a person. So I was transfixed in front of my TV screen as I listened to his message. It wasn’t until the end that I realized it was a Chrystler ad. Through most of it I thought it was about the possible salvation of a country that was going down the tubes. The hair stood up on my head as I listened to him say that there was some improvement in the place where so many jobs had been lost (Detroit) and where an entire city went into decay. Football’s may be one of the most important thing in my life but I am afraid for this country because I think it is tanking. Knute Rockney or Vince Lombardi could not have made a more compelling case for what they cared about than the message that Eastwod gave to this country.
Now it is being decryed as a “political message” and is unfair. This is one messed up country if people think that a message about real job creation in this country is a political ploy. Especially when it is Eastwood making the message. If you guys think that I am wrong, that is fine. Most of the time I think you are all a bunch of imature, adalescent, buffoons. But while we were all jumping out of our skins at the end of the game as I was, that message settled in and I think Eli’s eleteness or Cruz’ salsa dance takes second fiddle to the idea that maybe this country is gonna start making things again and maybe some people will have job opportunities. That add scared the bejesus out of me. It came right out of left field. And Fuck Karl Rove. He should be put in jail for what he’s done.

So if I checked
all the T and A posts and Giffs that I see on this site are about football right? How do you respond to all of that nonsence? is that about football? And I am not being political. I am being moved as a father, a soccer coach, a baseball coach, a cub scout leader, a HS theater director and a participant in my three adult children’s lives and the idea that this country stopped making stuff and began it’s decline while my kids were growing up scared the crap out of me on behalf of my children. The ad was deeply moving Costansa. It was the way I experienced the whole of the Superbowl event. I am just as much a football fan as you think you are and have been since the 50’s.

There are a lot of issues that take precedence before football…this being at the top of the list. It was a wonderfully created commercial…so much so that I didn’t even really consider it a commercial.
As far as what’s going on, I’ve got some very specific opinions about what needs to be done….but as this is a football site, I’ll probably refrain from voicing them.

My “quiting on the team” which is a fair assessment, was at the end of the Washington game. For me it was a lesson in having to deal with expectations NOT MET. Don’t know how the rest of you felt after that game, but enduring beyond a season in which the Redskins beat us twice was more than I was willing to put up with.
Keep in mind that whatever I say (or write) is tinged with a substantial amount of whiskey, it is just a coping mechanism to abandon being a fan (but abandoning the Giants is a different thing). Well, It didn’t work. I continued, unabated as a Giants fan and didn’t miss one moment of this incredible run to the SB. I went through 20 some odd years of being a diehard fan when they sucked the big one. I don’t play second fiddle to any of you “true believers” whoever that might be. I got my own way of dealing with my favorite team’s failures. So yuk it up boys. The joke appears to be on me.
I'm just making light of it.
We all have our doubts at some point in time, some express those doubts more vocally than others. No one is questioning whether or not you are a fan, you have to take what you said in context with where you said it. This place is easily the most die hard Giant site on the internet, and something like that would never ever be taken lightly around here, no matter who said it. So yea, you’re going to get ribbed for it, but we all know you’re a Giants fan, albeit a little more doubting than some. Enough of this hearsay, Giants are the Super Bowl champs, and we should be all be in an extreme state of euphoria.

I have 3 daughters
they’re all die hard Big Blue fans. The DVR is the greatest invention. One by one as they started to become interested in football they would sit next to me on the couch during the games. As they asked questions I would pause and replay plays during the game and explain the game. Now they’re all knowledgeable football fans.
The even know the jinx and superstition rules. If the team is doing good they’re not allowed to move off their spot. They’re not even allowed to go to the bathroom. During the SB on the final drive when Nicks got that big first down inside the 10 another fan at my house yelled out “THAT’S THE GAME”. Everyone including my daughters yelled out “SHUT UP!”.

usually premieres in September. I’ll be anxiously awaiting it this year. I watched the ‘86, ’90, and ’07 America’s Game DVDs on Sunday afternoon. The only problem with winning more titles is it’s gonna make my pre-Super Bowl ritual harder in the future. In a few years I’m (hopefully) gonna have to start waking up at 5am to get them all in!

Any tightend we get has to be focused on blocking first. Thats the reason everyone thinks Gilbride doesn’t know how to use tightends. We focus on blocking tightends so Eli doesn’t get mauled by the other pass rushers in the NFC East. It most likely will be another Jake Ballard that Jerry picks up

Keep an eye on George Bryan
TE out of NC State. Huge guy (almost OT size), great blocker, great at finding the soft spot in zones, some of the best hands in college football. The only downside is that his speed is highly questionable (I’ve seen some guys predicting a 4.7s 40, others predicting a 5.2s 40. He’s been clocked at 4.90 in college.)
Basically a Bear/Ballard clone.
He had great chemistry with Russel Wilson, but when he left Bryan’s production dropped a lot.
If they don’t get Dwayne Allen or Coby Fleener, Bryan could be a possibility on Day 3. Ladarius Green from Louisiana-Lafayete is another interesting guy.
If we don't get Allen, I want Green. Most athletically gifted, albeit raw TE out there. Hell if we could get Ballard to work...he can too
