This Season at BBV
This has been my first "season" with BBV. I started some time in the beginning of the season, maybe right before. Can't remember for certain, but around that time.
I never really had people who were decently knowledgeable Giants. Or even close. I had a bunch of Eagles fans, Jets fans, Broncos fans (You don't know how many times I heard Tebow was the greatest clutch QB ever). I admit I wasn't the greatest Giants fan. I didn't know much about our players aside from the main ones and the mediocore ones. I had followed the team alot though. I watched their games, I celebrated when we won, cried when we lost. To prove how little I knew, I didn't even know Jason Pierre-Paul before the season, or even who Jerry Reese was. The only thing I knew aside from the players was that we drafted some player named Prince and he was good. I was a huge, clueless Giants fan.
That's where BBV came into play.
I am not a very active poster. I read the articles posted by Ed, read the comments, participate in the choosing thing but wasn't as frequent a poster as say nywins42 (now also 46), or Fester, or BBI, or Simms or even close to that. Most of you might not even know I was here. But whatever. This site has given me the best season ever. Mostly because I actually know a bunch of new stuff about the Giants that I probably would've not known before and can give information and comebacks not completely based on homerism but facts :)
It's been a fun season. Everyone doubted us, some of us doubted us, but we pulled through. And seeing all these other Giants fans with the same views as I helped make this season better than any other that I remember. I'd just like to thank Ed, the other writers, and all the posters that's made this site so fantastic. Looking forward to a great off-season and the regular seasons to come (hopefully with more SuperBlow rings :)
I really don't know why I wrote this, and most of you don't care, but whatever. It's all good right?
P.S. If anyone wants to leave any comments or something so I know this didn't go to be a waste of a FanPost that'd be great lol.

awesome dude
this could have been me writing this 3 years ago. Silly me, I thought football started in week one.
I gotta say I wonder if it just makes me a fringe psycho that I can name the 53-man, I know coaches beyond OC/DC, progress of recent years’ draft picks (btw Marvin Austin is gonna be BEAST)
I almost feel like I should scale back… but I can’t!
You PLAY to WIN the GAME.
Dear Tebow, please let the Giants beat the Patriots.
Before this season
I could careless about the preseason, now i may actually watch it. And the draft? Pshh, forget about it, i never gave a dump. Now…

Great post rec'd
You are fortunate that you are a fan of this great sports team in one of its golden ages and it is happening right in front of us in the digital era. Whatever we need to know is just a few clocks away. You have read that 31 years ago as a 21 year old immigrant (living in Dallas of all places) what i had to do to know the history of the Giants without any Giants fans around and no internet etc. It is a blessing for all of to have BBV as a Giants fans hangout. We share things and learn from one another.
As a Giants fan i recommend that whoever has not gone through Ed’s Giants By The Numbers series should go and read it. It is a discussion about who was the best Giants player to wear their respective jersey numbers. There are also many honorable mentions.
Go to April 2010 archives. Find the first post where we started with jersey number 1 and went all the way thru #99 over several weeks. We discussed so many players going back to 1925 when the team was started. At times we argued and debated. Number 85 was the biggest one. Ed along with some others thought it should belong to Tyree while many argued and said no. Some said it should be Stephen Baker (the TD maker) and some of us like myself said it should be Del Shofner who was best to wear that number. Until this year many of us contended that Del Shofner was out best WR ever. i am still waiting to see what our new WRs do over a period of years before i crown one of them.
Keep posting friend like you usually do and your contributions are good.

Right off the bat, nets – definitely not a waste of a FanPost and I know why you wrote this. You wrote this because you (along with the rest of us) are flying high right now. The Giants just won the Super Bowl and this season has been an adventure…to say the least. I don’t know about most of the people not caring but I do know that this site is so different from any other site out there when it comes to the community. The people who participate actually do care. It’s a very unique place…
I was a huge, clueless Giants fan.
We all were huge, clueless Giants fans at one point. Now we are mostly insane Giants fans. I think I’d rather be clueless again because it’d be easier to just enjoy the game.
Hey, 'nywins46' sounds just as beautiful as we thought it would!!!
Is it wrong that I want to make sweet love to the holes that I've been punching into my Giants FatHeads all season?

BBV is probably my favorite SB Nation website.
I feel so fortunate for finding this place.
"No one in football has swagger like the 'lowercase ny' Giants!"
Think most of us have gone through the same cycle.
I went mad last two seasons missing the playoffs…i spent most my hours re-reading the same posts and old fan posts.
I love this gang and the moderators!!
Exactly
Here you are updated and on hands with what is happening on a daily basis. Which is so different than re-reading online articles mostly written by unfriendly to Giants writers.
Here you can learn and even discuss Giants related matters with others and even give your input. i have no doubt that Giants organization reads this site.
Ed and gang are doing a great job. Many fans who post here are fantastic. Too many to name here.

If you want to argue that Manning is a) not a great quarterback or b) not the best quarterback in franchise history your credibility is automatically shot.

Good post
I know exactly how you feel
I’ve been around a little longer than you, and post a bit here and there. BBV has become a big part of my fandom, and has really eaten into my billable hours the last few months :) I’m in Seattle, and thus don’t have a big community of Giants fans to celebrate with, commisserate with, or just shoot the sh*t with. BBV has become that for me. I’m hopelessly addicted to this site, and I love every minute of it. What a great site and great community!
BBV is part of every day of the year.

What I appreciate most about BBV...
…is that it truly is a community, however odd it may seem (and in some sense, mirrors NYC in that way, something we are reminded about as the city celebrates its championship together).
I gave a long schpiel about this in someone else’s fanpost near the end of the 2010 season based on some study of online communities, but essentially it boiled down to a few different levels of users, from passive lurker who absorbs info, to meta poster that creates new content and influences debates, and everything in between. It takes all kinds for a community such as this to thrive, and we are fortunate to have robust users at all levels that participate and add to the discourse.
I suppose this is a long-winded way of me saying that what makes this place special is that there are lots of guys (and gals!) that regularly step up and make big posts.

I knew I was hopeless when
….Ed posted something about Coughlin being concerned about the lack of Centers on the roster before the pre-season and I said “What about Jim Cordle?” and Ed responded to me that I had made a good point. Where else would you find two people that knew-much less cared-who the Giants 3rd string Center was?
Funny story
I remember when people would talk about MLBs (Middle Linebacker) and i’d think of it as MLB (like baseball) and be so damn confused on what was going on… sigh.

"Oh sir, the Giants of New York took on the Packers of Green Bay. And in the end, the Giants triumphed by kicking an oblong ball made of pigskin through a big "H". It was a most ripping victory."
I truly appreciate this place
I always thought I was different from most people b/c of my undying devotion to this organization. I always wanted to know everything i could about the Giants. Before the internet, I would get the paper everyday & scan it for Giant articles. Then id check the transaction section to find out if anything changed on the roster. I’d go to the games and couldnt go to my seat without buying the gameday program & reading it cover to cover before kickoff.
When I first got on the internet, i usually went to Giants.com for all my news. What better place than the horses mouth, I thought? But when I tried talking football with friends or even strangers, noone cared or knew as much as i did and it was impossible to have a decent discussion.
And then I found BBV, where i can soak up all the Giants news & info I can handle. I found BBV, where I can have a decent football discussion with Giant fans. And when I say a name, i dont have to explain who he is or where he’s from. I found BBV, & i realized im not crazy. Well… i may be crazy. But im not alone.

Joined this year, although I have been following the G-men for 40+ years. Used to read Street and Smith before the season and any article I could on the G-men in the local papers, which had next to nothing since I lived in California forever. I still feel clueless about the game, and this site is a bonanza of football knowledge, not just about the Giants, but the strategy and scheming. I will be checking out for the off-season cause I want to save my marriage (the wife does let me live football during the season and she hates the playoffs if the Giants make it, but she leaves me to it) and I will leave all the free-agency signings, who we should draft, etc. to the experts on here, some of whom I think are coaches or in the business.
So thanks to all the BBV’ers for a great season, lots of laughs, lots of anguish, but the best Super Bowl of my 40+ years. Be back when training camp opens. Take care Gents and ladies.

Well I will be here all offseason
I know Chach and BBI got plenty of insight as to who the college prospects are. I love free agency and the draft. I cannot wait for college player profiles to be posted by Ed and I love the fact that none of our players played in the weak ass Pro Bowl and that we were all right when we said that we will be drafting at 32 this year.

Tyron Smith
we argued when I said he was the right pick for the Cowboys … his label for the 6’5, 315-pound starting LT was that he would be a blocking TE…
also if you go back to the draft stuff, you can see that while half the guys were appalled by the JPP pick, the other half were at least ok with it (like me! woohoo!)

Good post man
Personally speaking, I never counted the Giants out of it. They have talent well distributed on both sides of the ball and are one of the most complete teams in the NFL. It’s been proven time and again that just being an offensive powerhouse like the Packers Pats or Saints just isn’t enough.

I am glad you posted this.
I joined this great site around 2009 if i’m not mistaken, my reasons for not posting are just that being european i always felt that my knowledge just wasn’t enough to post in here, i mean i can discuss soccer like a madman but when it comes to football sometimes i just get lost.
I’m a Giants fan since the beggining of the 2007 season, a friend of mine who is a Bears fan was always buzzing me about watching football so i gave it a shot through some games he got from the internet (no ESPNA at the time), actually it was a lot of games lol, i watched them all on a monday until late hours, the last game i saw as the Giants at Cowboys and i something just clicked with me, yes they lost that game but i was very impressed by the attitude of this team since i didn’t have any other factors to judge the team, sure i could have picked a team that won but not with this sort of warrior attitude, just loved it.
Every day i come to BBV and read the posts and comments and try to learn more about the game and the organization, sure i will never know much about the game as most of you guys but it’s been a pleasure reading this blog for 5 years now and honestly i was a bit reluctant in posting here about the victory because i didn’t want to sound like a gloryhunter or joining the bandwaggon so there it is.
Great season and beautiful win by the Giants and sorry for the big post hijacking man but i’m happy that you wrote this and wanted to share my experience with this blog so far, some crazy guys in here, Bobbiblue, Costanza, Fester, Simms and many others, you guys always make me laugh and i love reading about your views of the game, pretty much everyone actually.
Sorry for the long post and sorry if my English isn’t the best but
